Chop your broccoli… then leave it sitting before cooking 👏🥦
Sounds weird but there’s actually science behind it.
When broccoli is chopped, an enzyme called myrosinase activates and helps form sulforaphane, a powerful plant compound linked to gut health, reduced inflammation and antioxidant protection.
If you cook broccoli immediately after chopping, a lot of that enzyme activity is destroyed by heat before sulforaphane has a chance to fully form.
Leaving it sit for around 30–40 minutes before cooking helps maximise the benefits.
