This is what 6 weeks on the Gut Reboot looks like for real people πŸ’™πŸ’ͺπŸ’™

These are the final weight loss in kg results for Group Fireflies after completing the program, all shown anonymously. Consistent habits, real food and a focus on gut health can create powerful results.

Weight loss is the measurable outcome, but the bigger benefits shared are no cravings, better sleep, more energy, reduced inflammation and a better mood.

Prebiotics feed your gut, probiotics add the good bacteria. You need both for a healthy microbiome, better digestion and fewer cravings.

Plant diversity made easy πŸ’™πŸ’ͺπŸ’™

This morning at the I met Kate from Basketcase Gourmet in Williamstown (Melbourne) and she introduced me to this beautiful Samurai Shichimi dukkah sprinkle.

What I love most is the ingredient list. Nothing artificial, just real food. It’s gluten free, vegan friendly and packed with flavour.

In this jar you’ll find chilli powder, sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, poppy seeds, ginger, pepper, shiitake, nori, salt and orange peel. So many different plants in one sprinkle.

It’s a really simple way to increase plant diversity in your meals. Sprinkle it over eggs, avocado, roasted vegetables or salads and you instantly add flavour and nutrients.

Kate will be at the final Cowrie Market for the summer next month, or you can buy online or check out their page to find other stockists.

I’d hate to think how many protein balls get rolled between the groups on the Gut Reboot program πŸ˜‚

The group chats are filled with protein ball photos. Everyone seems to have a batch on the go!

These ones are Phase 3 approved and ridiculously easy to make.

2 cups rolled oats
2 cups desiccated coconut
4 tablespoons cacao
About 25 dates
5 tablespoons natural maple syrup

Blend everything together, roll into balls and pop them in the fridge.

Hot tip. Hide a few in a separate container in the veggie crisper for yourself… these bad boys disappear very quickly. πŸ˜„πŸ’™

One of the most powerful parts of the 6 Week Gut Reboot is the group πŸ’™πŸ’ͺπŸ’™

Every month a new group starts together and moves through the six weeks side by side. Everyone experiences the phases at the same time, which means you’re never figuring things out alone.

Each group has its own private WhatsApp chat where participants share photos of their meals, their blue band walks, ask questions, celebrate wins and sometimes share the tougher moments too. It becomes a really supportive and safe space.

We’ve had people join from all over Australia, New Zealand, Denmark and the UK, all supporting each other through the same journey.

Many people finish the program saying the group support was one of the most valuable parts.

You can be involved as much or as little as you like, but it’s pretty special watching a group go through the journey together.

Beach mornings with Twiggy and Billie (Bill looking like a meerkat) 🐾

Dogs and the outdoors do more for our health than most people realise. When we spend time in nature, walking on the beach, in the bush or in parks, we’re exposed to a huge diversity of environmental microbes.

Research shows that this exposure can help increase the diversity of our own microbiome. Dogs actually help with this too. They bring microbes from outside into our homes and lives, which can contribute to a more diverse microbial environment.

More microbial diversity is generally linked with stronger immune function and better overall gut health.

So getting outside, breathing fresh air and walking with your dogs is not just good for your mind and body… it’s also great for your microbes.

Typical school lunch for my 16 year old son. My daughter has the same less the wrap.

Simple whole foods packed with plants.

Wrap: Avocado, cracked pepper, cheese, red capsicum, snow peas, tuna, baby spinach in a wholemeal wrap.

Salad: Carrot, green beans, snow peas, sugar snap peas and red capsicum on the side.

Protein balls: with oats, coconut, dates, cacao and maple syrup.

A banana.

The wrap alone contains wheat, rye, barley, linseed and flaxseed.

That’s 19 different plants in one lunch. Huge fibre diversity. Exactly what our gut microbes love.

Most days the only thing that changes is swapping the wrap for wholemeal bread or changing the fruit. Small simple choices can make a big difference to gut health.

Your gut does far more than just digest food.

Inside your gut live trillions of microbes that influence your immune system, metabolism, mood, inflammation levels and even your cravings.

When the gut becomes unbalanced, certain microbes can start driving cravings for sugar and ultra processed foods because that is what they feed on.

But when you start nourishing the gut with real whole foods, fibre and diverse plants, the balance begins to shift. Energy stabilises, digestion improves, cravings reduce and your whole body starts to feel the difference.

Gut health really is the foundation of overall health.

Phase 3: Pork, Broccoli & Cabbage Salad with Almond Dressing. Yum πŸ˜‹

Participants in the Gut Reboot program share recipes in their WhatsApp group chat. Last night this ripper of a salad was shared by a Angie who is currently in Phase 3. So much gut goodness right there πŸ’™πŸ’ͺπŸ’™

How do I make this?!?!
Chop and sprinkle cabbage and broccoli with paprika, turmeric, coriander seed, fennel seed and olive oil. Roast until softened and slightly charred. Add peas and toss salad.
Almond dressing:
2 Tbspn almond butter
4 Tbspn olive oil
Juice half lemon
2 tspn tamari
Pinch salt
Mix until combined.
Toss roasted veg with dressing. Add avo and sprinkle of chopped almonds and mint.
Delicious!

This is what 5 weeks can look like.

These are the total weight loss results so far for Group Fireflies after five weeks of the Gut Reboot. Some people have lost a little, some a lot, but what matters most is the consistency across the group.

What the graph cannot show is the biggest changes people are reporting in their daily reflections.

πŸ’™ People are sleeping better.
πŸ’ͺ People are feeling happier.
πŸ’™ People have more stable energy.
πŸ’ͺ People are feeling far less bloated.
πŸ’™ Digestion is improving.

When you remove ultra processed foods and sugar, and start nourishing the gut with real food, the microbiome begins to rebalance. When that happens, the whole body starts to respond.

Weight loss is one outcome, but the biggest wins are often the ones you cannot measure on the scales.

This is what happens when you start fixing your gut balance.

Most people underestimate how quickly the body responds when you start eating real food πŸ’™πŸ’ͺπŸ’™

When sugar and ultra processed foods are removed and replaced with whole, nutrient dense foods, the body often begins to rebalance surprisingly fast. Energy stabilises, digestion improves, bloating reduces and cravings begin to fade.

This is because your gut microbes respond directly to what you feed them. Nourish the good microbes and they start working for you rather than against you.

Real food really does change how your body feels.
