Woah, what a whirlwind school holidays are šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

Amidst some slower days, clinic was filled with lots of new and existing patients. A few mentions to some case studies over the last few weeks:

- Improved liver enzymes and healthy weight loss for dietary management of NALFD.

- Dietary assistance for ongoing digestive discomfort and positive parasite infection.

- Improved severity and frequency of hormonal migraines in peri-menopause through lifestyle and dietary support.

- Improved insulin resistance, no longer pre diabetic and total of 8kg weight loss (bloods above).

- Improved bowel motions for chronic constipation in young child.

- Optimization of dietary and supplementation for endurance athlete and shift worker.

- Improved energy levels and less brain fog, no longer experiencing 3pm crash.

- Improved fatigue and inflammatory markers in blood pathology for hemochromatosis management.

This is a topic I am deeply passionate about.

Our metabolic health is so vitally important to reduce risk of Type 2 Diabetes, fatty liver disease, cancer risk, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s / dementia.

The chronic and frequent consumption of refined and processed food is challenging generational health, resulting in scary predictions for the decades to come.

Food really is foundation and the dietary changes don’t have to be huge to improve longevity.

Reach out if you’d like any of these markers tested, or have any questions at all 🌱

Science is one thing, but I also loveee spending time in the kitchen making food from scratch. There is so much beauty and power in knowing exactly what you’re eating, with wholesome ingredients. Not all food is evil, provided we know what we are eating and ideally, where it’s coming from.

Here is a little snippet of our weekly staples, special occasion, or fun food experiments.

If you’re interested in any recipes for the above, let me know below 🌱

Metabolic conditions are the precursors to developing significant health challenges.

We can control this by ensuring correct nutrition habits and lifestyle choices, and one of my favorite things to work on in clinic.

Keep an eye on this space, more data is to come 🌱

This paper was a highlight in my recent newsletter, however I wanted to also share the findings here.

A huge development of research has been found regarding the cognitive benefit of creatine, in patients with Alzheimer’s Disease.

We have known of the muscular benefits of creatine, however, the initiation into cognition is very exciting for chronic diseases. Creatine is now being considered as a feasible treatment for brain fog and memory challenges, especially to support the hormonal shifts throughout various stages of the lifespan.

I personally, am so excited to see where this takes us in the continuation of utilizing nutrition with medicine on a broader scale.

*disclaimer; this is is not an endorsement to start taking creatine at high doses as it can have detrimental effects. It is always recommended to please seek professional advice to establish what is suitable for you.

The glimmer of sunshine was nearrrllyy more enjoyable as my first week back in clinic!

A little snippet of what kept me busy:

- Patient down 35kg and no longer requiring medication for Type 2 Diabetes.

- Delivered 2x food intolerance tests to identify immune responses for digestive upset and skin reactions.

- Delivered 3x stool sample results, two showing high levels of methane producing bacteria and dysbiosis to explain constipation, diarrhea, flatulence and irritability.

- Assisted teenager to achieve healthy weight gain with coealic disease.

- PCOS review - patient now experiencing regular bleeds & less acne flares.

- Cardiovascular management, patient improved body composition with more muscle and less body fat and recent bloods showed positive change to blood sugars and cholesterol.

+ many more!

If you have any questions, please never hesitate to message.

Stay safe this weekend, everyone 🌱

Hi all šŸ‘‹šŸ½

I am Shae a holistic Naturopath and Certified Nutritionist at Maree Health Management. I have spent the best part of my upbringing enjoying all that Far North Queensland offers, residing in Townsville for the last 20 years.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy and certification in Nutrition (incl. Sports Nutrition Advisor & Health and Wellness Coach).

I am a proud and devoted mother of two teenagers who fulfill our lives, I hold on closely to the things that fuel me and provide balance; physical activity, sunrises, time in nature particularly at the beach, connecting with family and friends, good nutrition, rest and simplicity.

I specialize in Women’s health with many years’ experience in perimenopause/menopause, fatigue and vitality, weight loss and metabolic health, pre- and post-natal health, hormone imbalance, stress and sports nutrition. My passion lies in helping women understand their bodies and become empowered with their health.

I became invested in wanting to understand perimenopause and midlife as this was relevant to ME. This is the season of life I am transitioning through, and it was becoming increasingly ā€œcommonā€ in clinic that many women were also looking for help and support in navigating this transition. As my daughter approached teen years, I was reminded again of the importance for females to be educated and build strong foundations early, to ease, promote and protect good health moving forward.

I focus on health by investigating and understanding the big picture. This is achieved with emphasis on delivering holistic treatment with a food first approach, whilst supporting the depths of various body systems, correct nutritional deficiencies and implementing strong nutritional and lifestyle foundations.

The power, physical activity, restorative sleep and connection are vital, and I love helping people achieve this balance 🌱

Thank you again,
