As I step into retirement after over three wonderful years as Village Manager at Oak Tree Retirement Village - Townsville, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all the residents for the beautiful morning tea, the incredibly thoughtful (and entirely unnecessary!) gift, and most of all—the kind and generous words you shared with me.

It’s been an absolute privilege to be part of this community. I truly believe the village is in a better place than when I arrived—not just in its appearance and upkeep, but in the strong sense of connection, care, and community that has grown here.

Thank you for your warmth, support, and all the memories we’ve shared. I will carry them with me into this next chapter. I will certainly miss you!

What a wonderful morning in our little village! Oak Tree Retirement Village Townsville

While we may be small village, with only 23 residents attending, the recent fashion show from the “That’s Me” label was a truly special experience. Each design by Margo Mott was not only stylish and practical but beautifully made to measure — tailored perfectly to each individual.
Living in North Queensland, we really appreciated the thoughtful choice of fabric. They felt lovely to the touch and were clearly chosen to keep us cool in summer and warm during the cooler months.
There was truly something for everyone — with a great range of colours and styles to suit all shapes and occasions. Margo and Gabriella were an absolute delight to host in our village, and their passion, dedication and sense of humour shone through from start to finish.
Well done, ladies! We’re already looking forward to your next visit to North Queensland.

🎉 10 Years of Village Life! 🎉

We just celebrated 10 years of our Village — and what better way than with wanted posters of our residents from way back! Some were easier to spot than others, which made for lots of laughs and great memories.

It was a great chance to reminisce about the antics and moments that have made our Village what it is today — with some of the original residents still here to share the stories!

We wrapped it all up with a BBQ lunch and plenty of smiles. Here's to the next 10! 🥳🍔🌭

Biggest Morning Tea Success at Oak Tree Retirement Village

Oak Tree Retirement Village proudly raised an impressive $1,953.36 at our Biggest Morning Tea event!

The day was filled with fun, laughter, and community spirit. Guests were thoroughly entertained by two very amusing bush poets, and we even tested our knowledge with a tea-themed quiz — you wouldn’t believe what we don’t know about tea!

The daffodil drive added a splash of colour and meaning to the day, and the food spread was nothing short of superb. Our talented residents outdid themselves with a generous array of homemade, delicious delights that everyone enjoyed.

We also received over 20 raffle donations, which helped raise more than 25% of the total funds. A huge thank you goes to our wonderful sponsors including the Monday Craft Group, Cowboys Leagues Club, the local pharmacies, and the local tavern, just to name a few.

With 48 attendees, it was a fantastic turnout and a truly memorable day. Well done to all the residents for their incredible efforts in making this such a successful and meaningful event!

Today, we’re not just celebrating any birthday — we’re celebrating 91 amazing years of laughter, stories, and wisdom, shared with neighbours, friends, and your Oak Tree family.

You’ve seen it all, done most of it, and still manage to show us how it’s done with style and a smile. It’s not every day we get to honour someone who’s been around longer than the remote control — and still sharper than most of us before our morning tea! ☕🎂

Thank you for being such a special part of our community. We’re lucky to have you, and even luckier to celebrate this milestone with you.

ANZAC Day Reflections from Oak Tree Retirement Village

On this ANZAC Day, we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of those who served—and continue to serve—our great nations.

Here at Oak Tree Retirement Village, many of us carry the stories, memories, and deep pride of those times. Some lived through them, some were shaped by them, and all of us are forever grateful for the freedom and peace their bravery secured.

To our families: thank you for keeping these legacies alive with us. Whether you’re attending a dawn service, wearing a poppy, or simply taking a moment of silence—we feel connected through this shared remembrance.
