🌞Pure Tropical Townsville Energy, Sunshine You Can Feel🌞

⚓️Today we were thrilled to welcome Engage Marine, Australia’s leading marine and towage services, to Sailability Townsville! ⚓️

Engage Marine recently took over the harbour towage contract for Townsville and reached out to offer their support for our inclusive sailing community. We’re deeply grateful that they took the time to visit, connect, and explore ways to sponsor our program, a true reflection of community supporting community 💙

We’d also like to warmly welcome them to the Townsville region, it’s wonderful to see local maritime hearts joining forces to uplift others.

Alongside this special visit, we were delighted to share the breeze with our friends from The Good Shepherd Home, thank you for dropping by🫶🏽
We welcomed a new participant, Emilie, from The Townsville Community Learning Centre who was incredibly brave and gave sailing a go, and the ever radiant Carly from Carly & GG’s Garden Shop🌸had an awesome sail today🩷

Our day flowed smoothly thanks to our incredible volunteers, led by our Vice President Owen, whose laughter, teamwork, and spirit lift even the most weary💛 Every sail, every smile, every helping hand reminds us that Sailability Townsville volunteers are all heart.

Thank you, Engage Marine, and thank you Townsville, together we’re keeping the wind in every sail!

What a Day at Sailability Townsville!

Today we were honoured to welcome two special visitors, the Queensland State Emergency Service as part of their 50th Anniversary celebrations, and special guest Nick Dametto, who is standing as a candidate for Mayor of Townsville.

The Townsville SES Unit Qld State Emergency Service 50th Anniversary Flag made a stop at Sailability Townsville as it continues its journey across our region. For five decades, the SES has stood ready to help Queenslanders through storms, floods and every call for assistance, true community spirit in action. It was a privilege to share our own story of volunteering and inclusion with the SES team.

Our volunteers and participants loved being part of this celebration of service and community!
Clive turned his talents to perfect pikelets, while Cathy organised a beautiful morning tea. Alina enjoyed a fabulous sail and showed off her fresh new hairstyle and colour, looking fantastic! Brenda, one of our newest volunteers, was back lending a hand, and Eleena made some epic progress out on the water! And of course our very own Skipper The Therapy Dog (in training) was there sharing his sweetness, and boops with everyone🫶🏽

We were also delighted to welcome Nick Dametto, who joined us to learn more about Sailability, meet our volunteers and participants, and chat about community inclusion and the power of volunteering in Townsville.

Days like this remind us what makes Townsville so special, people coming together, giving their time, sharing their skills, and supporting one another. Whether on the water, on land, or in orange, we’re all part of the same team.

🧡 Here’s to 50 years of the QLD SES, and to every volunteer who keeps our community strong!

Here at Sailability Townsville, we love seeing our sailing community lift each other up, and these two young legends are always doing just that. Thank you for supporting us🫶🏽
Meet Merrick Liessmann and Alex Byrne, two North Queensland teenagers sailing a 5.8m Nacra Catamaran with serious passion and skill.

They first learnt to sail through Pimlico High School, and have since taken that spark across Queensland, competing in catamaran events and chasing the wind wherever it takes them.

Earlier in the month there was the TSC Sprints Regatta, heaps of wind, and that unbeatable feeling of freedom on the water. It was amazing to watch!

Let’s keep supporting our local sailors who are out there doing great things and representing the North with pride.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Carolyn M Vincent

From all of us at Sailability in Townsville, thank you, Carolyn, for your inspiring words and for the warmth, wisdom, and joy you bring to our Sailability family.

Your message at the Sailability Queensland Conference reminded us all why we do what we do, that every sail, every shared laugh, every small act of kindness creates ripples of connection that reach far beyond the shoreline.

Your heart for community sailing shines so brightly, and we are truly grateful to sail alongside you on this beautiful journey of inclusion, empowerment, and love.

Here’s to the waves we make together, and to a future filled with compassion, courage, and connection.

With gratitude and admiration,
Sailability Townsville Crew

Well... it started with teeming rain and some wild winds, the gazebo definitely earned its stripes today! 😅 But that didn’t stop our Sailability spirit one bit.

We were joined by our wonderful friends from Breakthru and Bentley Farm - Disability Support & Respite - Townsville, what a brilliant bunch! The smiles were contagious and the laughter non-stop.

Clive fired up the BBQ, and we all came together for a good old-fashioned sausage sizzle to celebrate being brave, being together, and embracing every moment.

We also had some fabulous visitors, Carly from Carly & GG’s Garden Shop dropped by for a sail, and our very own speedster Paul showed up in some fresh racing kicks… such a snazzy dresser and phenomenal sailor! 🏆

A special shoutout to Brenda, one of our newest volunteers, welcome aboard! 💙

And of course, none of this magic happens without our incredible crew of volunteers. Rain, wind, or shine, you show up with smiles, hugs, and hearts full of kindness. We’re so grateful for every single one of you.

🌟Go Sailability Townsville, we all ROCK! 🌟

With Deepest Respect and Sorrow

All of us at Sailability Townsville are deeply saddened to hear that a soldier from Townsville’s 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment has tragically lost their life in a training accident, with two others injured.

Our heartfelt thoughts, prayers, and love are with the soldier’s family, mates, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. This loss will be felt deeply throughout the brigade, the Army, our Townsville community, and the wider Defence family.

We honour their service, their sacrifice, and their memory.

Lest We Forget. 🕯️

“The duty of the day is done, rest now in peace.”
