☀️Good Morning☀️

19/03/2026

We had such a special day at Sailability Townsville. While we did our absolute best out on the water, unfortunately the river conditions weren’t on our side. With the strong current, not everyone was able to sail, and we sincerely apologise to those who missed out. We’re hopeful that next week brings calmer waters so everyone can enjoy their time on the river.
That said, we did manage to get some boats out, and most of our sailors were able to experience the joy of being on the water, which is what it’s all about.
A huge congratulations to Lexe for completing her solo sail today, what an incredible achievement!
We were also thrilled to welcome several new volunteers, along with many lovely visitors who dropped by for tea, cake, and a chat to learn more about what we do. It was so busy, so full of energy, and just genuinely beautiful to see.
It was also wonderful to have some familiar faces return after being away, and of course, Skipper made sure to say hello to everyone along the way 🐾 To every single person who came down today, thank you... And to our incredible volunteers… we are so grateful for you. You truly make days like this possible 💛Here’s to calmer waters next week and even more smiles ahead 🌻

Around 20 boats across five classes hit the water off The Strand today for the Townsville Sailing Club Olympic Preview Race Event, giving our community a taste of what sailing will look like on the road to Brisbane 2032.
The rain was incessant and quickly turned into a proper wet-season downpour, but the sailors still put on a fantastic show.
Huge thanks to Darryl and Sarah Byrne for the invitation and warm welcome, and to Brad (one of our Townsville Yacht Club Open Day raffle winners) for also making me feel so welcome.
Great commentary from John Byrne along the jetty, with Wayde Chiesa MP keeping spectators informed on the action.
A big thank you to all the sailors, volunteers, officials and the NQAV tech crew who made today possible.
Rain, wind and all, sailing spirit was strong in Townsville today.

🌧Sometimes the river has other plans🌧.... With the Ross River still closed for recreational activities while water continues to be slowly released from the dam, sailing wasn’t possible today. But as it turns out… being together was more than enough. We gathered anyway for morning tea, thank you Carolyn M Vincent from The
Ubuntu Foundation for your ongoing support which makes our Volunteer get togethers so special 🌸🩷🌸 with a good catch-up, and plenty of laughs. Skipper and Milo were very pleased with the arrangement... especially when treats appeared! 🐾
We dusted off Leanne’s drone and had a bit of fun capturing the morning from above... thank you, Leanne🫶🏽 We also practiced our rope-tying skills (always handy around boats), shared stories, and enjoyed a relaxed morning at the shed. Days like today are a beautiful reminder that while sailing brings us together, it’s the community that keeps us coming back. Boats may stay on land sometimes, but connection, friendship, and laughter are always in season. Thank you to everyone who dropped by for a cuppa and a chat. Here’s hoping the river says yes again very soon.

🚫 No sailing today🚫
The Ross River is still closed while water continues to be released from the dam. We’re hopeful things settle soon and we’ll be back on the water next week...But here’s the good news…
Even without sailing, the shed will be open and the kettle will be on. Feel free to drop by for morning tea, a chat, and some good company... from 10 AM
We’d love to see you.

🌸Today I honour every version of the woman I have been.
The daughter who was once small enough to believe the world was endless possibility.
The friend who learned that laughter can hold people together through storms.
The partner who discovered that love is not only given, but grown.
The mother who realised her heart could live outside her body.
The grandmother who now sees time not as years passing, but as generations rising.
To be a woman is to live many lives in one lifetime.
We are soft and fierce.
We carry tenderness in one hand and resilience in the other.
We hold memories, mend hearts, build homes, challenge limits, and quietly shape the future.
Every woman you meet is carrying a story you cannot see... victories fought in silence, courage gathered in the dark, hope planted even when the soil felt hard.
Today, I thank every version of myself that brought me here.
The one who fell.
The one who got back up.
The one who kept loving anyway.
And I honour every woman walking this earth... daughters, sisters, friends, mothers, aunties, grandmothers, mentors, dreamers... the ones who came before us and the ones who will come after.
May we continue to lift each other.
To speak life into one another.
To remind each other of our strength when the world forgets.
Because when women rise, communities rise.
When women believe in themselves, the future changes.
Today and every day, may we walk forward knowing this truth:
We are not only part of the story.
We are the reason the story continues.
Happy International Women’s Day 🌸

No witnesses.
No proof.
Just the wind… and a very impressed seagull🤪
Sailing has a funny way of bringing out the joy in people, whether you're steering the boat, helping on the pontoon, or just being part of the crew.
🙌🏽 We’re always looking for volunteers. Come down, meet the crew, and see where you might fit in.
Because sometimes… the life you change might just be your own.
