𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮: Bluewater, Bluewater Park, Toolakea and Saunders Beach
This warning is from the Townsville Local Disaster Management Group (TLDMG).
Due to severe weather conditions, there is a chance of heavy to locally intense rainfall which could lead to flooding in these areas.
Prepare now - conditions could change quickly and become dangerous.

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮
▪️There may be flooding near rivers and creeks.
▪️Some roads could be flooded.
▪️Heavy rain may make it dangerous to drive.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗼
▪️Stay up to date because conditions could change overnight:
- Visit the Emergency Management and Disaster Dashboard for the latest information.
- Listen to your local radio.
▪️Stay away from creeks, rivers and drains.
▪️Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
▪️Decide what you will do if flooding starts.
- If you are at risk, your best option is to shelter in a safer place with friends or family.
- Consider emergency shelter options as a last resort. No public shelters are open at this stage. The TLDMG will continue to monitor the situation.
- If you need to leave don’t wait for further advice.
▪️ Get and fill sandbags in case you need to block doors and stop water getting inside. Sand and sandbags are available from the following locations (supplies are limited and being restocked):
- Bluewater Community Centre, Bluewater
- Bruce Highway & Mount Low Parkway intersection, Mount Low
- Lou Litster Park, Railway Estate
- Ross Dam Park, Kelso
▪️Stay out of rivers, creeks and flood water.
▪️If flooding starts, do not drive unless you have to.
𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆
▪️Start getting ready now in case the flood gets worse and you need to leave:
- Pack a bag with enough clothes for three days, important documents (like identification, insurance papers and passports), medicine, cash and keys.
- Call your support service, a family member or a friend to organise transport if the flood gets worse and you need to leave.
- Leaving early is safer than waiting.
𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴
▪️Start packing up your campsite.
▪️Ask the campground owners whether the site floods.
▪️Check water levels and warning updates through the night.
▪️Be ready to move people, pets, camping gear and vehicles to higher ground if it starts to flood.
𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸
▪️Move livestock to higher ground. You may need to open gates to other paddocks so animals can move if floodwaters rise.
▪️Block access to low-lying fields, shelters or other places near creeks and rivers.
▪️Provide lots of food and clean water in a safe place away from creeks and rivers.
▪️Make sure animals can be identified if they get lost. This may include brands or tags.
