Townsville University Hospital and institute of surgery have been running a pilot program to reduce the long wait arthroplasty waiting list. We have a dedicated team who come in on a Saturday and do 4 Joint replacements. The initiative is to implement Short Stay Arthroplasty protocols . We have done 54 patients since Nov last year. 100% discharge within 24hrs with only 1 , 10day readmission for pain management. Nil other related readmissions
