A meaningful few days of learning, now complete ✨

I’m officially accredited to deliver Tuning Into Students. As part of the initial global rollout, I feel honoured to be just 1 of 60 facilitators worldwide.

This work is all about supporting emotional development and connection in schools, and giving educators practical tools that truly make a difference in the classroom.

Feeling grateful to bring this into schools and other education settings to share something that I am so passionate about 💛

Allow me to reintroduce myself (I couldn’t help myself jumping on the ChatGPT caricature trend! 😅)…

I’m Jess! An OT, big-hearted human, and fierce believer in neurodiversity 🌈 ♾️

I’m deeply passionate about creating spaces where children (and their families) feel safe, seen, and celebrated 🎉

I believe in meeting kids exactly where they are, with curiosity, compassion, and a whole lot of fun!

This work isn’t just what I do… it’s who I am 🤍

🎄✨️Closing out the year with gratitude🎄✨️

As the year comes to an end, I want to thank the families, colleagues and wider community who have supported and trusted The OT Room this year.

Its been a year of huge growth, brave moments, and big wins (including the tiny wins that are actually huge!). It's been so special to witness my clients courage, joy and quiet moments of progress that don't always get seen.

The OT Room is now closing for the festive break and will return for more connection, progress and adventures Monday 19 January 2026.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy festive break that is filled with plenty of good moments.

See you in 2026! ✨️

🌟 Happy OT Week 2025! 🌟
Occupational therapy is all about helping people do what matters most to them. Whether that’s learning new skills, gaining independence, building confidence, or simply making everyday life a little easier.

I feel so privileged to work alongside amazing clients every day, supporting them to overcome challenges, discover their strengths, and celebrate their successes - big and small. 💛

This week, I want to acknowledge the incredible work of occupational therapists everywhere. Your creativity, dedication, and heart make a real difference in people’s lives.

Here’s to putting occupational therapy into action - empowering lives, enabling connection, and making the everyday extraordinary! 👐✨

At The OT Room, we see every day how vital safe, consistent supports are for children and families. The Thriving Kids proposal risks leaving kids in systems already under strain.

I know our children deserve better - supports that are inclusive, co-designed, and grounded in dignity and justice.

Please read, share, and add your voice (we only have until 5pm today).

Join us by endorsing our response to Thriving Kids

On 20 August 2025, Minister Butler announced the Thriving Kids initiative, shifting children with disability, developmental delay, neurodivergence, and developmental vulnerabilities out of the NDIS into a $2 billion “foundational supports” program.

While ambitious, Reimagine along with many other advocates, peak bodies, parents, carers, and practitioners are concerned the proposal risks harm: it was not co-designed with families or practitioners, it underfunds the scale of need, and it places children into systems that are already failing.

Reimagine Australia has released our collective response: “First, We Build It” — a call to pause, co-design, and rebuild early childhood supports in ways that are inclusive, safe, and grounded in human rights and disability justice.

You can read our DRAFT Position Statement; First, We Build It here:https://reimagine.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/DRAFT-First-We-Build-It.pdf

We are inviting families, practitioners, organisations, and allies to endorse this statement. Endorsements will be included in our submission to the Minister, amplifying our united call for restorative reform.

If you share our concerns and vision, please take a moment to complete this form. By endorsing the statement, you add your voice to a growing coalition calling for reform that is co-designed, inclusive, and grounded in justice. Whether you are a parent, professional, community leader, or ally — your support matters.

Add your details here, by COB Friday 22 August, 2025, to become a co-signatory: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc8Hh9W6eknDT6tR7SiJ9WXaYNUn3zmYuoHyhO1-RFisitPdg/viewform

We have a short window of opportunity to make an impact, so please share this information widely amongst any networks you have across early childhood.

✨️ NOSTALGIA MOMENT✨️

This week, The OT Room welcomed Year 11 Pimlico High School student Leila for her work experience. As a past Pimlico student myself, it was an absolute no-brainer for me to share my passion with her. Fun fact: I also used to be one of Leila's educators in outside school care when she was in primary school, and I was in Uni!

This week was spent sharing what I love, connecting Leila with my beautiful community, and reflecting on my journey and growth since my Year 11 days!!

Leila, it was such a pleasure to have you, and I wish you all the best on your journey 😊

🌸 HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 🌸

Today is a day to celebrate all the wonderful mother figures in our lives! But also a day for thinking of...

🌼 Those who have lost a child.
🌼 Those who have lost their mother's.
🌼 Those who are a step-parent.
🌼 Those who are a single parent.
🌼 Those who are longing to be a mother.
🌼 Those who can't be mothers.
🌼 Those who have fostered or adopted.
🌼 Those who haven't heard the word 'Mum'.
🌼 Those who schedule life around therapies.
🌼 Those who stay up all night but still show up during the day.
🌼 Those who fight to get their kids what they deserve.
🌼 Those who are away from their mother's or children.
🌼 Those who find today hard.
