Week: Part of AITHM’s research is committed to improving the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. As they are the First Nations people, it is crucial to honour and respect their culture and land.

Dr Allison Hempenstall, ACRRM registrar and Pelista Pilot, the first Indigenous research officer employed by Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service, have been working together on Thursday Island to improve medical education in rural and remote areas.
