🌸Farewell to Our Wonderful Sheryl!🌸

Today we say goodbye to our incredible receptionist, Sheryl, who is retiring after seven amazing years with us.

Sheryl has been much more than just the friendly face at our front desk – she has been the heart of our team, welcoming everyone with warmth, kindness, and a smile to brighten your day. Her dedication, patience, and genuine care for our community have made a lasting impact, and her absence will be deeply felt.

We thank you Sheryl, for all of your hard work, you have played a huge role in making Community Connection what it is today. We will be forever grateful.

You will be dearly missed, but we wish you all the happiness and relaxation in this new chapter of life. Enjoy every moment – you deserve it!

We’re excited to welcome Jenny Storen to Community Connection! Backed with 25 years of experience in Construction Administration and Customer Liaison, Jenny will be ensuring smooth operations on reception.

Fun facts about Jenny – She loves keeping fit, hiking and walking her dog. Jenny also enjoys reading a good book, scrapbooking and fishing in the cooler weather.

Christmas Office Hours & Payroll over the Festive Season

The Community Connection Office will be closed from Wednesday the 25th of December (Xmas Day) and re-open on Monday the 30th of December 2024.

Please ensure that all time-sheets are submitted NO LATER than 9am of Monday the 23rd of December 2024. This will ensure that everyone will be paid by Xmas Day. There will be no extra pay runs completed over the Christmas period.

Human Rights Day

Today is Human Rights Day - celebrating the anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948. The theme this year is: 'Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now'.

Human Rights are standards that recognise and protect the dignity of all citizens, regardless of disability, race, colour, religion, s*x, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

Australia is a party to seven core international human rights treaties. The rights of people with disability are contained in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Today is International Day of People with Disability
This year the theme is: "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future".

About IDPwD
IDPwD is a United Nations (UN) day observed internationally. It aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people living with disability.

Each year the UN announces a theme to observe for International Day of People with Disability. The annual theme provides an overarching focus on how society can strive for inclusivity, through the removal of physical, technological and attitudinal barriers for people with disability. This has been occurring since 1992 when the General Assembly announced 3 December as the International Day of Disabled Persons.

In Australia, IDPwD is a joint effort between government, schools, organisations, community groups, businesses and individuals.

IDPwD is an opportunity to be part of creating an inclusive and diverse community for the 5.5 million people with disability in Australia.

The Australian Government through the Department of Social Services funds a national program to help promote and raise awareness of this day.
