My name is Tanya. I am a wife and mother of three beautiful boys. I have a background as a registered nurse and have a keen interest in alternative therapies and healing modalities. The birth of my first child changed my world and kindled an inner fire desiring to nourish mothers as they transition from maiden to mother, and mothers bringing more divine beings into their nest. After the birth of my second child, that inner fire grew.
My desire for all newborn mothers is to ease into motherhood feeling confident, supported, nourished and loved. That each mother can have the space to tune into her glorious self and her baby so to be intuitively guided as she mothers, where she can share her thoughts and feelings without judgement, where she can ask for help without guilt. Ultimately for her to feel supported and held as she navigates the newness of her child and motherhood.
From this, I have trained as a Postpartum Doula through the Australian Doula College (as a birth and postpartum doula), and from Newborn Mothers Collective Postpartum training with Julia Jones.
A postpartum doula provides emotional and practical support to a newborn mother and her family. Examples of this support include building up a mothers confidence in herself by exploring mindset and self-care, exploring parenting choices, supporting and encouraging village building, breastfeeding support, preparing nourishing meals and postpartum teas, light housework, referrals to other health professionals, such as lactation consultants, naturopaths.
In addition to offering postpartum support, I can assist during your antenatal period navigating birthing preferences, exploring comfort measures for labour and birth, exploring fears/anxieties and looking at ways to alleviate, helping prepare your for postpartum, and providing you with evidence-based information so you are informed.
I would love to hear from you if you are interested in exploring the postpartum doula care that I can offer you.
My warmest and heartfelt wishes for the sacredness of your journey into motherhood.
