🏆🐎 Melbourne Cup Magic in North Queensland! 🐎🏆

It’s not every day the Melbourne Cup Trophy makes its way to North Queensland — and we’re honoured to be hosting a special breakfast to celebrate its visit! 🥂✨
Our residents have been getting into the race-day spirit, crafting stunning fascinators and stylish boutonnières in preparation for what’s set to be the fanciest champagne breakfast yet. 💐🎩
To make the morning even more memorable, we’ll also be joined by a stallion and a Shetland pony — bringing a touch of real race-day magic to our home! 🐴💛
We can’t wait to celebrate in true Melbourne Cup style!

🌼 R U OK? Day 🌼

Our wonderful residents spent another beautiful day outside, spreading kindness and connection. With ice creams in hand and smiles on their faces, they handed out inspirational pens and notepads to our hardworking staff as a sweet reminder to check in with one another. 💛

Because sometimes, a simple "Are you OK?" can make all the difference.

🎯 Co****le Competition Fun! 🌽

The residents had an absolute blast during our co****le competition! There were plenty of laughs, cheering, and smiles all around as everyone joined in on the fun. 😄🙌

🌱🌿 At The Good Shepherd Home, we love seeing our residents thrive doing what they enjoy most! Val, one of our wonderful residents, has a passion for gardening, fishing, and tinkering away on little projects.

Val not only tends to his own veggie patch, but also gives a helping hand to our gardening crew—pruning, weeding, and sharing his green-thumb wisdom whenever he can. 🧑‍🌾

We know the residents enjoy visits from Garth & Max’s Australia Lap, so glad we got to have pats before recommencing the lap around Australia.

Dropped my daughter off at work experience, then arrived at The Good Shepherd Home to volunteer. It was 7:58am, the earliest we have ever arrived. The residents have breakfast 8-9am 🤦‍♂️. So Max and I headed to a cafe to have breakfast.
Flying back to Geelong tomorrow ✈️
See about walking the new trailer to get the promotional “wrap” on Wednesday.

🦷 Exciting News from The Home! 🏡

We’re proud to announce a new partnership with Dr. Garret Robles from My Tooth Doctor as part of our commitment to enhancing resident care. This initiative, known as “The Dental Home Project,” will bring professional dental services directly to our residents.

Dr. Garret will regularly visit the Home to provide routine check-ups, examinations, and treatments — ensuring consistent oral care without residents needing to leave the facility (unless more complex procedures under general anaesthetic are required).

If you’d like more information or wish to add a resident to the dental list, please speak with the Clinical Nurse in your wing or contact Reception.

On Saturday, 16th August, our residents at Mountainview House made the most of the sunshine with a fun-filled gliding competition in the garden!

Laughter, light-hearted competition, and a touch of friendly rivalry made for a wonderful afternoon. It’s moments like these that make Mountainview feel like home. 💛
