With 50 years experience, The Good Shepherd Home is committed to providing excellent care.

The Good Shepherd Home is surrounded by the beautiful Palmetum Botanical Gardens and faces the picturesque Ross River in Townsville, North Queensland. The Home has been designed to offer a broad range of accommodation options for 240 residents throughout seven separate areas, including specialist secure dementia care. It is fully accredited and is designed to provide residents with maximum privacy, security, comfort, lifestyle and choice.

ANZAC Day Ceremony was held at The Good Shepherd Home on Friday, 24 April 2026.

We were honoured by an overwhelming turnout this year, a testament to the enduring spirit of remembrance and gratitude within our community.

The ceremony was officiated by Andrea, with a prayer led by Fr Noel. Andrea also shared a short story, followed by heartfelt and reflective poems from Catherine and Jess.

We extend our sincere thanks to our special guest, Chris, for performing the Last Post live, a deeply moving tribute that resonated with all in attendance.

Wreaths were laid by Hermione and John as we paused together in solemn reflection, honouring the courage, sacrifice, and service of the men and women who have served our nation.

On this ANZAC Day, we remember not only those who gave their lives, but also all who have served and continue to serve. Lest we forget.

Exciting times ahead for our GREV/HIB residents as they begin training for the upcoming Gliding and Target Practice competition (date to be announced)!

At Mountainview, gliding sessions were always a favourite — with Mama proudly crowned the 2025 champion 🏆

We’re planning to host our own competition later in the year, hopefully aligning with the Senior Olympics (fingers crossed it continues in 2026!). Stay tuned for more updates!

Some of our residents have started their very own walking group… although we think it might be more of a talking group! 😄🚶‍♀️

Either way, they’re loving the chance to get outside, enjoy each other’s company, and soak up the beautiful weather that Townsville is putting on. ☀️🌴

It’s all about fresh air, friendship, and plenty of laughs along the way!

Our residents had a wonderful day getting creative and making birdseed ornaments! 🐦💚

These special treats are for the budgies’ feathered friends who live at the home, and everyone loved being part of something so fun and meaningful. It was a lovely way to connect with nature, share some smiles, and brighten the day for both our residents and our little visitors! 🌿✨

What an incredible turnout at the Home’s Easter car park party! The energy was amazing, the smiles were everywhere, and even the Easter Bunny busted out a move or two 🐰💃

Residents and kids alike enjoyed the night, and the Easter bonnet parade was definitely a highlight! 🎩✨ Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a special day! 🎉

We encourage all visitors and families to plan ahead during this time. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday.
