This time next week I will be heading into the hospital for surgery.

For those that are not aware I spent a bit of time last year in & out of hospital with diverticulitis. As a consequence they found some damaged bowel and found that I have another condition called adenomyosis in my uterus with some suspected endometriosis. So the plan is to remove the problematic part of my bowel & have a hysterectomy. I will be having at least 4 weeks off before making a very slow return into clinic with planning to work a few 2 hour shifts as I ease myself back in with my recovery. Please keep an eye on my socials as this will be the best way to see how I am tracking!

So this week I have limited availability for review appointments, sorry I am not going to see new patients this week. The best way to get in is via online as I am only checking my phone at breaks and at the end of the day.

In less than 3 weeks I will be in for surgery and off work for 4 weeks before hopefully returning to work with reduced hours while I recover. Because of this, I have decided to close my books for new patients as of Tuesday 31st March. With Easter holidays I do not feel it is responsible to take on new patients when I can not offer the appropriate care while I am on leave.

I am fully booked on Thursday, so Tuesday is the only day left available if you want a before Easter appointment.

I will be back in clinic on Thursday 9th, Friday 10th, then 13th, 14th 16th & 17th. I have LIMITED evenings left available so if you need an appointment please book in!

Public Service Announcement

Easter is Friday next week! Wow that has come up quickly.
I am having a few days off with the family.

I have less than 4 weeks until my surgery where I will not be in clinic for a minimum of 4 weeks afterwards then be only returning a few hours per week while I recover after 18th May.

I will not be taking on new patients from after Easter until I begin extending my hours, likely in June. Sorry!

So if you are needing an appointment I recommend having a look online & booking in ASAP!

International Women’s Day 2026….

I was scrolling & saw a post from another amazing female business owner reflecting on her journey to get where she is today & I realised a lot of my patients & followers might like me sharing a little about me.

I grew up in Ballarat, graduating from Ballarat High School, then spending 2 years at Monash University studying Science. I returned to Ballarat & completed my degree in Food Technology ending up working for Fosters International until becoming a mum. Life certainly changed then!

I then began my Chiropractic degree at RMIT with a 3 year old, not quite 2 year old and 5 month old baby. I was determined, naive & motivated!

5 years & another baby later I graduated in 2013 with distinctions! I worked for 2 years within a medical practice before separating from my ex husband and opening my own business with months. 8 very happy years were spent in the back room of the Ballarat South Chiropractic clinic including through the challenging COVID times (cue the face masks and briefly face shields!) and working with the Ballarat Miners Basketball club.
Remarrying Chris & having Morgan were highlights during this time!

In 2023, after an amazing albeit quick trip to Darwin, Chris & I chose to relocate to Townsville. 2024 saw the opening of Smiles Chiropractic Townsville and making Townsville home.

To say I love Townsville and all it has to offer is an understatement. I don’t think I could ever move away from here! To have been given the opportunity to run my own business, using my different non cracking technique and being accepted by the Townsville community, I feel lucky & grateful!

I am now undergoing my graduate diploma in psychology to help me further help my patients living with chronic pain. I am proud to say that the past 2 subjects I have passed with distinctions and are loving the extra learning! Don’t worry I have not plans on stopping my chiro practicing!

So now you know a little more about me, celebrate your achievements, as little achievements are often just as significant as the big ones and have an amazing International Women’s Day.

What a start to 2026 I have had! Busy is an understatement! From Morgan starting her schooling journey to making the decision to sell our house in preparation for building. It has been flat out!
Things are slowly settling down as I look at the calendar & realise there are 5 weeks until Easter.

At the end of April I will be taking some time off as I am having surgery to sort my pesky tummy out & need to recover.
