Meet Melissa Brookfield Osteopathy ☺️

Hi, I’m Mel 👋🏼

I wear all the hats at MBO — reception, admin, social media guru 🤣Honestly… I’m not that great at the extra roles, but I like to think it’s because all my energy (and skill) goes into the hands-on treatment side of things.

I’ve been an osteo for over 13 years and feel pretty lucky to be someone who genuinely loves what they do. Aside from the buzz I get helping patients improve their pain, I love getting to know my patients and all the weird and wonderful stories you tell me (so don't hold back!)

My approach is very hands-on. Most of my patients would tell you I’m fairly brutal with pressure and have a bit of a knack for finding the exact sore spots 😅 (don’t worry — I’m very gentle with babies).

I’ve also been told I chat a lot… but it’s all part of making things feel relaxed. You can talk about anything in my room — there’s no such thing as TMI here.

MBO is a space for people dealing with TMJ issues, headaches, migraines and spinal pain — but I always leave room for the rest because I’m terrible at saying no to anyone who needs help.

I've lived in a lot of places (Darwin, Sydney, Cambridge, Oxford, Melbourne, Canberra, Launceston, Noosa, Jervis Bay) but out of all those places Townsville is where I've decided to call home and have been here for over 10 years raising my family.

Outside of work, I’m a mum to three very energetic kids and a very energetic dog, David. In my (very limited 🤣) spare time, you’ll usually find me at the gym, playing Pickleball, doing puzzles or crafts, or getting into my new gardening phase

Exciting news!

🗓️ *Starting Friday's 27th March*

I can finally share that I’m now working from a second location – Townsville Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Mundingburra.

This clinic is open to all patients, but it’s particularly exciting for me to work alongside medical specialists where I can offer conservative, hands-on treatment for headaches, jaw pain (TMJ) and neck pain.

For many TMJ and headache conditions, non-invasive treatment should be the first step, and I love being able to help patients explore these options before considering more invasive interventions.

In addition to specialist doctors, the clinic also has an onsite nurse who provides injectable muscle relaxant treatment if this is recommended as part of your care.

I’m really looking forward to working with such a fantastic team and continuing to help patients with focused care for headaches and jaw pain.
