NQ Pilates and Fitness Kerin is a highly qualified and experienced Pilates Instructor. She regularly undertakes professional development workshops, masterclass programs and webinars.

She has been instructing since 2008 and has certifications in Clinical Pilates through Breathe Education, plus other certifications in Fitness and Allied Health. She has a strong foundation in both exercise science and rehabilitation and her additional training in injury, rehabilitation, ante-natal and post-natal Pilates strengthens her devotion to helping clients with specific needs. As a fitness professional she enjoys maintaining her own fitness and regularly participates in external Pilates and fitness sessions and other community based fitness events. Kerin’s background as a professional dancer and Bachelor of Arts in Dance graduate gives her a deep understanding of movement and the human body. This coupled with her extensive background in teaching movement is particularly valuable in modifying for clients with individual requirements. For Kerin, Pilates has become more than just a form or exercise - it’s a way of life. She is grateful to be able to share her passion with others and to help them achieve their fitness goals and reach their full potential through the transformative power of Pilates

Feeling sensation in your back during exercise is ok. Just keep it at a tolerable level.

Today marks the end of another 10 week term. Some of the goals people have achieved this term are - full teaser on the long box, full long stretch knees off the carriage, feeling strong and confident enough to put feet in straps on reformer, doing the roll over on the mat with no props to assist, adding a spring to Footwork, and a personal goal in my own practice was pressing up to high bridge from the shoulder blocks.

I love my clients commitment, their trust in me, and their belief in themselves.

My only regret is not taking more pics! I am always in the moment and forget. Enjoy the school holidays everyone 😘

It’s still sinking in, but I just won a full scholarship to study the Diploma of Clinical Pilates with one of the most cutting edge Pilates training organisations in the world (Breathe Education)

Bring on this next chapter of my career and all that is has to offer. I am ready.

This week the studio turns 6! So I dug out the pics of the studio being built!! The girls were so little!! Hard to believe I started teaching 14 years ago carting my gear around in the boot of my car. Now I get to work in this amazing space which is ten steps from my back door, and I have a beautiful community of clients who inspire me every day. Thanks for your support. Kerin x

In June we are expecting THREE NQ Pilates and Fitness babies! These fierce mummas haven’t let pregnancy stop them in their tracks and have continued to attended their weekly classes with a few modifications made.

I’m proud of them and cannot wait to meet these new little humans they’ve been baking. I feel like I’ve contributed in some way 🤣🤣🤣

I wrapped up this week with a reformer session with this client who is in his end stages of rehab for back surgery.

We have been working together to build his spinal mobility and strength (especially into extension) and today he smashed two goals….. He cleared the box in High Bridge, and Snake exercise with a high footbar and no springs (incredibly difficult).

Pilates is Pilates - the method created by the man himself. Clinical Pilates is me applying it to you and your level of ability and stage of rehabilitation.

Ok now I’m off to practice Snake with no springs, can’t let this guy win hey Rhonda Flynn 🤣🤣🤣

Here are some of my Thursday morning crew working on Front Splits, Russian Splits and Up Stretch.

Did you know that pain does not always equal tissue damage. Read that again, when you have a pain, it doesn’t always mean you have hurt yourself.

Some people really struggle to believe this concept.

Our body has an amazing capacity to heal itself. Muscles heal in 3-6 weeks. Bones 6-8 weeks. Ligaments, tendons and discs 12-18 months.

Pain outside of these normal healing times is likely not caused by damaged tissues.

It is likely caused by your pain system becoming hypersensitive, or malfunctioning. Similar to a smoke alarm going off when there is no fire.

Some of the many things that can contribute to this non-specific type pain are:
☹️ work stress
☹️ family stress
☹️ lack of social connections
☹️ believing you’ll never get better
☹️ obsessing over your pain

Some healthy behaviours that can help to turn down your pain system:
✅ exercise
✅ a healthy diet
✅ time spent outdoors
✅ good quality sleep
✅ relaxing and having fun
