You may have heard that the NDIS is changing the way plans are created 🤔

Here’s what that means in simple terms:

The NDIS will start using a new planning process that focuses more on how your disability impacts your everyday life — not just what is written in reports.

You’ll have a structured planning conversation (sometimes called a support needs assessment) where you talk about:

🟡What supports you need day-to-day
🟡What’s working well
🟡What’s not working
🟡What goals matter most to you

The aim is to make funding decisions more consistent and clearer for everyone.

Important things to know:

🟣You don’t need to do anything right now.
🟣Your current plan stays the same until you are officially moved to the new process.
🟣The changes will happen gradually over time — not all at once.

If you have an upcoming review and you’re unsure how this may affect you, please reach out. We’re here to make sure you feel prepared, informed and supported every step of the way 🫶

Support Coordination often happens quietly, in the background 💛

While participants focus on day-to-day life, there’s ongoing work happening to help things run smoothly and feel more manageable.

This can include:
🔹Checking in with providers
🔹Making sense of plan details
🔹Following up on reports or requests
🔹Offering guidance when things feel unclear or overwhelming.

It’s not always visible, but the focus is always the same — supporting clarity, reducing stress, and helping participants move forward with confidence.

Because navigating the NDIS shouldn’t be something you have to do alone 🙌

The NDIS has recently updated its Vehicle Modification Guidelines, giving participants clearer guidance on what can be funded and what evidence is needed.

Here’s a quick summary of the changes:
🔧 Disability-related need: Vehicle modifications must now clearly demonstrate a direct link to your disability needs and how they support your independence, safety, or community access.
👩‍⚕️ Qualified assessment required: All modification requests will need to include an assessment from a qualified professional, such as an occupational therapist, outlining why the modification is necessary and reasonable.
🚙 Examples of supports that may be funded:

Hand controls, ramps, or lifts for accessibility

Adjustments to seating or steering for safe driving

Modifications to allow wheelchair transport

These updates aim to ensure modifications are safe, effective, and tailored to individual needs — while keeping the process clearer and more consistent for everyone.

If you’re thinking about applying for vehicle modifications or want to review your current setup, our team at Achieve Support Coordination can guide you through the process, help you gather the right documentation, and liaise with providers to make sure everything meets NDIS standards.

💬 Reach out today — we’re here to help you navigate these updates smoothly!

If your needs have changed, you don’t have to wait until your plan ends — you can ask the NDIS for a plan reassessment anytime 🙌

When should you ask for a reassessment?

🔹Your disability impacts have changed

🔹Your living situation or supports are different

🔹You’re starting school, work or a new stage of life

🔹Your child under 9 has changing support needs

What helps your request?

🔹Providing clear, up-to-date evidence such as:

🔹Allied health reports

🔹Support worker or provider letters

🔹Medical reports

🔹A weekly schedule showing what you need help with

Why it matters:

Strong evidence helps the NDIA understand your needs and reduces the chance of delays or declined requests.

If you’re unsure where to start, Achieve Support Coordination can help you gather the right information and guide you through the process. 💙

There are some important NDIS changes coming soon around art and music therapy funding, starting 24 November 2025.

Here’s what you need to know:
🖌️ New hourly rate: The maximum price limit for art and music therapy will now be $156.16 per hour.
👩‍🎨 Qualified providers only:

Art therapy sessions must be delivered by therapists registered with the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapy Association (ANZACATA).

Music therapy sessions must be delivered by therapists registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA).
🎭 Therapeutic focus required:
Only therapy sessions delivered by qualified therapists with a therapeutic purpose will be funded.
That means general art classes, music lessons, or activities without a therapeutic focus won’t be covered by the NDIS under these changes.

💡 If you’re already accessing these therapies, you can continue using them under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living — just make sure your provider meets the new registration requirements and the updated pricing applies from 24 November.

At Achieve Support Coordination, we can help you review your current supports and make sure everything remains compliant with the updated NDIS rules.
📞 Get in touch with our team if you’d like support navigating these changes.

Assistive Technology (AT) is one you’ll hear often, but what does it really mean?

👉 Plain English: Assistive Technology is any equipment, device, or system that helps you do things more safely, easily, or independently because of your disability.

Examples of AT in action:
✅ A wheelchair that helps you move around
✅ Hearing aids that make communication easier
✅ Grab rails or shower chairs for safety at home
✅ Complex AT like a powered wheelchair or modified vehicle

💡 Why it matters: AT can make everyday tasks more manageable and open up new opportunities for independence.

⚠️ Some AT is considered low-cost (like kitchen aids under $1,500), while other AT requires assessments and quotes.

👉 Translation: AT = the tools that make life easier and more independent.

✨ Want to know more about how Assistive Technology works in your plan? Chat with us today — we’re here to help.

🌱 Community Access Matters 🌱

Getting out into the community isn’t just about “going somewhere”… it’s about:
✨ Building confidence
✨ Making new connections
✨ Improving mental wellbeing

Through the NDIS, participants can be supported to:
☕ Grab a coffee with a friend
🎨 Join an art or hobby group
🚍 Learn to catch public transport
🌳 Enjoy the outdoors and feel connected

At Achieve Support Coordination, we help participants use their funding to make these everyday moments possible — because community isn’t a luxury, it’s part of a healthy life 💙

Feeling safe, supported and confident can have a powerful impact on everyday life.
For many NDIS participants, Behaviour Support is about understanding individual needs, building positive skills and creating supportive environments where meaningful change can happen. 💬✨

Behaviour support practitioners work with you and your team to:
✅ Identify triggers behind challenging behaviours
✅ Build communication and emotional regulation skills
✅ Develop person-centred behaviour support plans
✅ Support families, carers and support workers with practical strategies

Under the new PACE system, Behaviour Support now has its own dedicated funding category within Capacity Building. This means clearer pathways and more targeted support for participants who need it most.

💡 Remember: Behaviour support is not about fixing a person — it’s about building understanding, safety and inclusion.

If you’re unsure whether Behaviour Support is included in your plan or would like guidance on how to access it, our team at Achieve Support Coordination can help you navigate the process.
