🙋‍♀️ It’s FAQ Friday! Every week we’ll answer a common question about the NDIS.

Question: “Can I change my service providers if I’m not happy?”
✔️ Yes, you can! You are in control of your supports. If something isn’t working, you have the right to look for another provider that better fits your needs.

💡 Pro tip: Always check your service agreement for notice periods, and let your Support Coordinator know so we can help with the transition.

Drop your NDIS questions in the comments and we’ll feature them in a future FAQ Friday!

✨ Myth Busting Mondays ✨
There’s a lot of misinformation out there about the NDIS, and it can make things super confusing. Let’s bust a common myth ⬇️

Myth: “NDIS pays for all medical costs.”
❌ Not true!
The NDIS funds supports that help you with everyday life, build skills, or stay independent — but it doesn’t replace Medicare or your healthcare system.

Truth: ✔️ The NDIS may fund things like therapy, assistive technology, or support workers — but not GP visits, hospital stays, or standard medication.

💡 Have you heard another NDIS myth? Drop it in the comments and we’ll bust it next Monday!

📆 NDIS Jargon in Plain English 📆

"Plan Review" 👉 A plan review is when the NDIS checks if your plan is still meeting your needs.

Plain English: It’s like a progress check-up for your funding and goals.

✅ Example: If your needs change, you can request a review.
✅ Example: Reviews usually happen every 12 months, but sometimes sooner.

💡 Pro tip: Write down achievements and challenges before your review so nothing gets missed.

Navigating NDIS paperwork can be overwhelming — especially when you’re trying to understand service agreements filled with fine print, clauses, and cancellation policies.
You shouldn’t have to figure it out alone.

As Support Coordinators, part of what we do every day is help you:

🔍 Review service agreements — We’ll go over the terms together and make sure it aligns with your plan and your goals.

🚩 Spot red flags — Like lock-in periods, hidden minimum charges, or inflexible cancellation terms.

✅ Ask the right questions — If something doesn’t seem fair or clear, we’ll reach out to the provider on your behalf or guide you through what to say.

🧾 Make sure your plan is being used properly — So you’re not paying for services you don’t use or don’t need.

💬 Empower your choice and control — Because it’s your plan, your life, your say.

📌 You don’t need to feel pressured to sign something you’re unsure about.
📞 Reach out to your Support Coordinator — or if you don’t have one, we’d love to help.

Ever get confused about who to talk to about your NDIS plan? You’re not alone!

Let’s clear it up 👇

👤 Local Area Coordinators (LACs)

~ Usually your first point of contact with the NDIS

~ Help you apply, set up your first plan, and review your goals

~ Help you connect to community services and mainstream supports

👥 Support Coordinators (That’s us!)

~ We come in after your plan is approved

~ Help you find, connect with, and coordinate your funded supports

~ Work with you long-term to manage complex needs, build your capacity, and ensure services are working well

~ Advocate for you if things aren’t going right

📍LAC's = Getting into the NDIS and connecting to community
📍Support Coordinators = Making your plan work for you

✨ Bonus Tip: You might have both — and that’s totally okay. We can all work together to support your goals.

💬 Need help figuring out who to talk to about what? Let us know — we’re here to help you navigate the system with ease.

NDIS isn’t just about having a plan — it’s about bringing the right people together to support you.

As Support Coordinators, we’re often the bridge between you and your service providers. Here's how we make sure your team works with you, not just for you:

🔗 We connect the dots: From therapists to support workers to housing services — we coordinate everyone so no support gets missed.

🗣️ We facilitate communication: Sometimes providers don’t speak to each other. We make sure everyone is on the same page with your goals and support needs.

🔄 We check in regularly: If something isn’t working, or your needs change, we help make adjustments fast — no more waiting and worrying.

🛠️ We problem-solve: Whether it's overlapping supports or a provider not delivering what they promised, we help resolve it — so you don’t have to do it alone.

💬 Want your supports to feel more like a team effort? Let’s work together to build a stronger support network.

Make the most of your NDIS plan by asking the right questions:

1️⃣ What supports can I use my funding for?
2️⃣ Can you help me connect with new providers?
3️⃣ What do I do if my needs change?
4️⃣ How can we work together on my goals?
5️⃣ What’s the best way to prepare for my review?

💬 We’re here to answer these and more — every step of the way!

🌐 NDIS vs. Mainstream Supports: What You Need to Know 🤔

As Support Coordinators, one of the most common questions we hear is:
"What's the difference between NDIS supports and mainstream services?" Here’s a quick breakdown ⬇️

💡 NDIS Supports
These are funded specifically through your NDIS plan to help you pursue your goals, increase independence, and participate in community life. Think therapies, support workers, assistive tech, and home modifications.

🏥 Mainstream Supports
These are services available to all Australians—like public health, education, housing, and transport systems. Even with an NDIS plan, you're still expected to access these where appropriate.

🔍 Why it matters:
Understanding the difference helps you get the right support from the right place, without missing out on what you're entitled to.

What Does "Reasonable and Necessary" Mean? 🤔

You’ll hear this phrase a lot under the NDIS — but what does it really mean?

🟡 It means the support must relate to your disability
🟡 It needs to be value-for-money
🟡 It should help you achieve your goals
🟡 And it must be something that’s not better provided by mainstream services

Need help figuring out if a support fits? Just ask us.
