✨💙Today is International Nurses Day and the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth💙✨

Nurses at Townsville University Hospital were recognised for their compassionate care and dedication to the Townsville community at an awards ceremony this week.

15 individuals and 9 teams of nurses were acknowledged for work in areas such as consumer engagement, clinical partnership and outstanding contribution to learning.

Acting Townsville Hospital and Health Service executive director of nursing and midwifery Katrina Roberts said the awards were a pivotal part of highlighting all that nurses contribute to healthcare in North Queensland.

“I am so proud of each and every single one of our nurses, and I want to thank each them for their commitment to keeping our community healthy,” she said.

“Seeing just how much valuable work is being done by nurses across the organisation is inspiring and I hope all nurses are taking a moment to reflect on this important day.”

Pictured is clinical nurse consultant Paul Mateos who represented the Emergency Department team who won Consumer Team of the Year and nurse navigator Elizabeth Maguire who won Individual of the Year Award for Health and Wellbeing Services.
