Townsville Independence Program for Adult Community Living Inc is a not for profit organisation based in Townsville that has been providing quality services to people with disability since 1987. We support individuals in a way that reflects their individual needs and circumstances. Our service provision is based on a person centered approach where the people we support are at the centre of all ser

vice decisions. We work with individuals and their families in tailored programs where the majority of support is one-to-one. Staff support individuals in accessing the community and integration into recreational, vocational and educational activities. Individuals who have accommodation support are supported in living in their own homes and developing life skills and community networks.

At our AGM, we announced this year’s Why Award winners—LSWs who truly represent why we do what we do and embody our TIPACL values in their everyday practice.

Today we’re celebrating our overall Award recipient who encompasses all 6 of our values, Cherie Noon.
Cherie is a highly experienced support worker who embodies the heart of TIPACL's values in her actions. She shows a strong commitment to learning and growth, taking initiative to better understand participants' needs and sharing her knowledge with the teams she works on to improve overall support.

Cherie is participant focused and keeps in mind the bigger picture, advocating for opportunities that support choice, independence and connection. Her honest and fair minded approach sets a high standard, and even when faced with challenges, she continues to lead by example.

Cherie communicates openly, asks questions, and remains adaptable, ensuring participants receive the best support possible. Her integrity, commitment to quality, and consistent professionalism makes her a trusted and respected team member - she is a great examploe of living out the TIPACL values.

At our AGM, we announced this year’s Why Award winners—LSWs who truly represent why we do what we do and embody our TIPACL values in their everyday practice.

Today we’re celebrating our Integrirty Award recipient, Geoff Hudson.
Geoff has demonstrated integrity through his proactive and professional approach to support work. He often advocates for the people he supports. As stated by his team Manager he has 'earned trust through honesty, calm communication, and reliable follow-through'. He handles unfamiliar tasks and untested situations with confidence and care, always putting the participant's wellbeing at the forefront of his decisions. He builds strong, respectful relationships with both participants and their teams, always maintaining high-standards, professionalism and person-centred practice. Geoff's steady presence, and commitment to doing the right thing, reflects the value of integrity.

Today we’re celebrating our Leadership Award recipient, Peita Gallagher.
Peita is the well deserving recipient of this award. Peita demonstrates leadership through her calm, consistent, and participant focused approach. She leads by example, showing flexibility and adaptability in her support - even in challenging situations. She brings positivity to her interactions, de-escalates situations, and keeps the participant's needs at the centre. She supports her teams by communicating openly, stepping up when needed and encouraging others through her steady demeanour. From observations and listening to Peita's team manager that her approach inspires confidence and trust from the team and the participants she supports.

At our AGM, we announced this year’s Why Award winners—LSWs who truly represent why we do what we do and embody our TIPACL values in their everyday practice.
Today we’re celebrating a second Accountability Award recipient, Kirralea Shannon.

Kirra has consistently demonstrated accountability when faced with unfamiliar or untested tasks. She shows sound judgement by reaching out or guidance when needed, ensuring quality and safe support. Kirra adapts well to change and confidently navigates the complexities of two challenging programs and has taken on board advice and instruction given, then applied it to her practice and behaviour. Kirra upholds strong personal values and communicates positively and respectfully both to and about the people she supports. Her willinness to take ownership, follow through, and communicate clearly makes Kirra a reliable and trusted team member.
