Townsville Independence Program for Adult Community Living Inc is a not for profit organisation based in Townsville that has been providing quality services to people with disability since 1987. We support individuals in a way that reflects their individual needs and circumstances. Our service provision is based on a person centered approach where the people we support are at the centre of all ser

vice decisions. We work with individuals and their families in tailored programs where the majority of support is one-to-one. Staff support individuals in accessing the community and integration into recreational, vocational and educational activities. Individuals who have accommodation support are supported in living in their own homes and developing life skills and community networks.

🖊DSW Conference – Brisbane🖊
Investing in Our Support Workers

Tanika, Kirra, Abbey, and Paul – four of our dedicated LSWs – recently attended the DSW Conference in Brisbane. Now in its 8th year, the conference is all about empowering disability and mental health support workers through real-world learning and professional development.

Highlights included:
🧠 Sessions on wellbeing, confidence, and communication
🤝 Workshops focused on behaviour support, advocacy, and relationship-building
💡 New ideas to strengthen frontline work and make it more impactful and fulfilling

It was a fantastic opportunity to recharge, reflect, and return with fresh perspectives and strategies to support the people we work with every day. Big thanks to Multicap, Open Minds and Allinto for hosting an amazing event!

✍DSC NDIS Conference – Melbourne✍

Recently, our CEO Mel and General Manager Sarah represented our organisation at the 2025 DSC Conference in Melbourne for an important national event that brought together key voices from across the disability sector.

Over two packed days, they heard from leaders including Minister Jenny McAllister and NDIS Commissioner Louise Glanville, along with many sector experts. The conference provided a chance to explore current and future challenges in disability support such as pricing, foundational supports, AI, behaviour support, employment, housing, and rebuilding trust in the sector.

Thank you, DSC, for a powerful, future-focused conference. Mel and Sarah came back full of insights and energy to share with the team. 👏

🎨Staff Shoutout - Bec🎨
Bec is one of our Key Support Workers, who has worked with us for over a year now! Bec is incredible with all of her participants and always goes above and beyond to make their day brighter - as you can see by the choice of filter she's used in this photo😂!

During her shifts with Belinda, Bec took the initiative to start a creative little project — painting colourful letters to spell out Belinda’s name. While Belinda wasn’t too keen on picking up a brush, she happily chose the colours and gave the occasional glance (and possible nod of approval!) from behind her magazine 👀💅

🌸🐰 Easter Brunch Magic at TIPACL! 🐰🌸

Yesterday we hosted our annual Easter Brunch, and it was our BIGGEST turn-out yet! 🎉
From handmade pancakes by Dan (yum! 🥞) to barista coffee by the amazing Mel from the Croffee Van ☕—it was a morning full of treats, laughter, and community spirit.

The Easter Egg Hunt was a hit, with Crispian taking home the GIANT golden egg! 🥇🥚🍫
And of course, we were thrilled to welcome a special visitor… the Easter Bunny himself! 🐇💐

There was chocolate galore, smiling faces, and lots of memories made. Thank you to everyone who came along and made it so special 💛💜💚

Every second Friday, TIPACL hosts Craft and Coffee – a few hours of creativity, connection, and fun! This week, it was all about tie dye, led by the talented due of Sandy and Janine. 🌈👕

With their guidance, everyone’s designs turned out absolutely wonderful – colorful, unique, and full of personality! It was the perfect mix of creative fun and great company over coffee. 💛
