Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic condition in Australia.

Diabetes week is July 13-19 🩵
We are reminded of the risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes:
🔹Age (people over 40 are at higher risk & risk increases with age)
🔹 Family history of diabetes
🔹 Ethnicity and cultural background (including people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Pacific Island, Indian subcontinent or Chinese cultural background)
🔹 History of gestational diabetes or PCOS

Risk factors that we can modify to reduce our risk:
🔹 Carrying excess weight (especially around your stomach)
🔹 Being physically inactive
🔹 Unhealthy eating habits
🔹 High blood pressure
🔹 High levels of cholesterol or other fats in blood
