Following on from my last post, some of the themes I have supported myself and family with Kinesiology this year. There is a little bit of TMI here, but that’s real life:
•Navigating my change of identity - since selling my old biz in 2024
•Being content with not providing much monetarily for my family. Valuing my worth as mostly a homeschooling/at-home mum.
•Being content with a very little biz that operates 2-3 days a month and not 6 days a week.
•Imposter syndrome
•Fibula fracture
•Some weight gain post-injury and body image stuff
•Biz decisions
•Haemorrhoids
•Supporting my husband thru some stressful work related stuff
•Supporting my kids with things like bedwetting, toileting, colds

I try my best to bring myself back to the present and support myself with kinesiology to avoid the spiral where possible.

As well as the following, which I know to be supportive for me: cups of tea/cacao, being outside, dancing, screaming swear words outside away from my kids (our neighbours are far enough away šŸ˜†) or into a pillow, walking, being present and silly with my kids (this feels really hard some days), reading fiction, making a campfire, laying on the grass, whipper-snipping (I find this very therapeutic šŸ˜), dabbling in bowspring workouts and funnily enough writing really long posts like this one.

And most of all following sparks of joy like: tomorrow morning I will be welcoming in the new year watching the sunrise with some amazing people.

I am very grateful for 2025 and am looking forward to 2026. I hope you see your growth and glimmers from 2025 and wish you a wonderful 2026. Sending you heaps of love xx ✨

Kinesiology is brilliantly holistic and integrative. It may support all facets of life, however this also makes it a little tricky to explain sometimes, especially if it’s not a modality you’ve experienced before.

Given that it’s the end of the year, it felt like a good time to reflect on the beautiful clients I’ve been seeing over the last few months since being back in clinic and to create a list of some of the common themes that I have had the honour of supporting them to navigate, whether related to their goal directly or indirectly.

I’d thought I’d share this list with you, to help give you an idea of what Kinesiology may support.

For context most of my kinesiology clients, in recent months, are women in the age range of approx 30s-60s.

Common themes that have come-up in session include:
•Menopause and perimenopause
•Job/career changes
•Sense of identity changes (around career and/or parenting role as kids get older)
•Chronic Pain/discomfort - eg. feet, hip, sinus, throat, shoulder
•People-pleasing/over-giving tendencies
•Worrying about what other people think
•Overwhelm
•Self-respect
•Creating boundaries
•Reconnecting with hobbies or exploring new ones
•Preparing for conception, pregnancy, birth and postpartum
•Parenting challenges eg. toilet-training
•Caring for aging parents and/or parents with medical conditions
•Pregnancy and infant loss
•Mental health (PTSD, anxiety, depression)
•Reconnecting with spirituality and whole-being since becoming a mum and/or having a high-stress job

I hope this gives you some insight into what kinesiology may support. Please know, kinesiology doesn’t diagnose or cure but rather works with your whole-being to help bring about equilibrium.

Thankyou to everyone who has trusted in me this year whether for Kinesi and/or Myo. I appreciate you very much šŸ¤

I thought I’d also share how I’ve used Kinesiology for myself and my family this year. Coming in another post later today.

Myotherapy is a hands-on approach to health and wellbeing, encouraging ease and flow. Myotherapy is rooted in the science of anatomy and physiology paired with the ancient wisdom of bodywork that has existed in many cultures around the world, over thousands of years.

The way I provide Myotherapy is from a very holistic perspective. I am passionate about supporting women during pregnancy, postpartum and into motherhood, and people with chronic pain, and have completed extra training in these areas.

Techniques I may use in Myotherapy include: remedial massage, myofascial release, cupping, gua sha, gentle joint mobilisations, pain management suggestions and rehabilitative exercises. (Please note: dry needling not currently available.)

Myotherapy may be beneficial for:

-Reducing pain
-Improving movement
-Pregnancy comfort and birth preparation bodywork
-Postpartum comfort
-Releasing scar tissue eg. C-section scars, laparoscopy scars (At least 8 weeks post surgery. This work may be beneficial even if your scar is from many years ago)
-Internal and external TMJ release
-Improving bowel movements
-Improving lymphatic flow
-Releasing myofascia
-Improving qi flow
-Relaxation
-And much more

Sat 13th Dec

13/11/2025

Does your c-section scar (post 8 weeks) feel painful, have increased thickness, have a lack of mobility around the scar or do you have pain and movement restrictions in other areas since birth?

Trauma and stressors from your birthing and pregnancy experience can be held in your c-section scar (or episiotomy scar), which may lead to the above.

Kinesiology may help you process the trauma and stressors in a safe and supportive way, so that your tissues are more willing to release restrictions, minimise thickness, improve mobility and decrease pain.

I have also completed extra training in C-section scar release bodywork as a Myotherapist.

I find tying Kinesiology and Myotherapy together can lead to some pretty amazing results for c-section scars and other scars.

I have appointments available The Creative Wellness Studio on:
Sat 29th Nov and
Sat 13th December.
Here’s the link to book: https://jessica-kohn.au4.cliniko.com/bookings

Please note, Kinesiology may be beneficial for episiotomy scars too! However, I’m not trained in bodywork for this area, but I can give you some recommendations šŸ¤

Kinesiology is a holistic energetic medicine. Kinesiology involves us conversing and I will also be applying light pressure on your arm to gain feedback from your body. This is known as biofeedback and muscle testing.

Kinesiology is like having a heartfelt conversation with your whole being, on all levels: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual and working with your biofeedback to determine which balances your whole self needs.

With my training in PKP Kinesiology I have learnt over 150 different balances so far. These range from massaging acupressure points, nutrition tweaks, talk-based balances, brain integration, balancing muscles and meridians and much more.

Each Kinesiology session is deeply specific to you. You’ll gain deeper awareness and leave feeling grounded and with purpose.

Kinesiology may be beneficial for:

-Reducing pain and improving movement

-Releasing stress, shame, fears and limiting beliefs

-Pregnancy, birth and postpartum mindset

-Birth debrief/processing

-Processing past traumas and future worries that may be impacting current stressors and pain

-Connecting the dots between emotions and pain

-Turning overwhelm into clarity; defining actionable and attainable steps

-And much more

If you have any questions about Kinesiology, please feel welcome to DM me šŸ¤

You may have heard of phrases such as ā€œthe body keeps the scoreā€ or ā€œholding your issues in your tissues.ā€ But what do these actually mean?

When we experience stress or trauma, whether arising from physical and/or emotional, our bodies go through various biochemical changes. The depth of changes vary depending on the severity of the stress or trauma. One of the effects can be the imprinting of stress in our mind and body, which when we find ourselves in similar circumstances as the original stress or trauma our body and mind remembers and may flick back into a similar response pattern.

This could be in the way we react verbally, our posture, things we avoid or become addicted to, pain, movement restrictions, fatigue, irritable bowel movements and other symptoms. And then there is always the underlying emotion revisiting once again.

If this is you, please know, you are not alone šŸ¤

Kinesiology provides us heartful guidance from within, is great at facilitating you to process your emotions and help you find freedom from the symptoms and transmute them. To reconnect with yourself so the body no longer needs to keep the score.

A little video I made last year in relation to c-section healing. This breathing technique may help mobilise the scar from the inside and reduce the onset of adhesions and can be started as soon as you feel comfortable to, after giving birth. šŸ¤

I have this sweet story to share. Clayton, my son, told me with a big, sleepy smile tonight that I must have brains in my fingers 🄰

I was massaging an acupressure point on Clayton’s ankles tonight as he lay in bed getting ready for sleep. His feet were covered with the doona already and I easily located the spot on his ankle. He asked me how could I know what spot without looking. He asked me when I first started learning myotherapy if I could feel things easily and I said no.

Which led into a beautiful conversation about when we’re drawn to know something and we naturally want to practice something a lot we will usually learn it and remember it more easily.

(I didn’t go into limiting beliefs or self-sabotaging patterns or anything like that but I think we all know how that can take over sometimes šŸ˜).

I do love my palpation skills, it’s like reading but with your hands. And I did practice a lot when I was first learning and naturally the skill evolved.

But mostly I love my kids and the sweet conversations we have. Including this great compliment from Clayton. Thanks mate 🄹🄰
