π° Wishing everyone a safe & Happy Easter tomorrow!
Remember to enjoy your 20%! π. Tomorrow, please ensure you enjoy your chocolate and all that beautiful food your heart desires! Every client who comes to the clinic gets to hear the same information and that is I am a huge advocate for the 80/20 concept. Nourishing your body with 80% nutrient dense whole foods 80% of the time and throwing caution to the wind and enjoying the remaining 20% with anything your heart desires! This helps to ensure we build healthy relationships with ALL food.
Please remember, all food is βgoodβ food if consumed in the right balance. Iβll explain further, if we were to look at cake as a βbadβ food this message tells our brain we are about to consume something βbadβ for us and quite often leads to a regular thought process that refined sweets (or anything you enjoy eating or drinking in your 20) are "bad" or "harmful" to our body. This regular mindset can sadly result in unhealthy relationships with food and increase stress and anxiety and can be the driver for a host of other issues. The macronutrient components of cake are made up of carbohydrates primarily, fats and a small amount of protein. Yes it is a refined carbohydrate, itβs calorie dense, it doesnβt contain a lot of nutritional value and can disrupt the gut microbiome and cause weight gain when eaten in excess HOWEVER, itβs a carbohydrate that our body will convert to quick energy and when eaten in moderation (20%) of our diet it should be looked upon as βgoodβ food and something to enjoy, especially in the presence of family for a celebration π€.
Remember, you can enjoy your Easter chocolate or espresso martini and feel at your best, this is what we call balance.
