Eye tests don’t have to be scary! 👓✨

For little ones, visiting the optometrist can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming — but at Kay Street Eyecare we make sure every child feels welcome, safe and supported. 💛

A great way to help your child feel confident is letting them know what to expect. Arriving a little early gives them time to explore the practice, settle in, and get comfortable before their appointment begins.

During the exam, your optometrist will chat with you about anything you’ve noticed — like sore eyes, headaches, squinting or eye-rubbing. We’ll also ask about your child’s health, development and any family history of eye conditions.
Your child might read letters or shapes from a distance to see if glasses are needed, but that’s only part of the picture. We also check how their eyes move, focus and work together. 👀
