Horses model some wonderful behaviors for us to follow when we learn to listen and walk their path. Horses live in a constant state of awareness that has enabled them to survive for millions of years. They always notice what is happening in their environment, what is happening with their feelings and their bodies. Horses have an amazing ability to release stress and a truly unique capacity to share their empathy with humans. They never judge, they are completely honest and are our much-loved assistants in the healing process. They are great listeners too. No previous horse experience is required, just an open mind and a willingness to encounter a new way of allowing yourself to feel. You may be invited to meet the whole herd, take time groom one, participate in controlled lead work, perhaps a mounted experience or just share space with one of the herd that you feel drawn to. What we do

We offer general Psychotherapy and Counselling and Also Equine Psychotherapy and learning. Our clients are invited to take part in safe activities with the horses and then if they wish, process their experience, feelings and thoughts. Many of the experiences people have with our herd relates readily to life situations and can offer the opportunity to explore how we are in our relationships with others or how we are coping with life’s challenges. We will also demonstrate techniques that help people be calm and regain control. We focus entirely on supporting individuals and their needs in private sessions. We also assist various organisations to build stronger relationships through improved understanding, communication, and leadership. When emotions rise quickly, it’s easy to react.

That’s where a simple pause becomes powerful.

Taking a moment to step back gives you space to settle your body, clear your thoughts, and respond in a way that truly supports you.
Instead of reacting on impulse, you create an opportunity to choose what helps.

One gentle way to do this is the REST strategy.

This is an easy-to-remember guide to help you slow things down and find your footing again:

* R – Relax
Step away, even briefly. Take a breath, go for a walk, or reach out to someone you trust. This is about giving your nervous system a moment to settle.

* E – Evaluate
Gently notice what’s happening. What are the facts? How are you feeling in your body and emotions? What’s going on around you?

* S – Set an intention
Create a goal or plan to address the situation. What would help right now? This might be using a coping skill, asking for support, or deciding how you’d like to respond.

* T – Take action
Put your plan into action with intention and awareness. It doesn’t have to be perfect; just more supportive than reacting in the heat of the moment.

You might move through these steps more than once, especially in overwhelming situations, and that’s okay
Like any skill, it becomes more natural with practice.

If this resonates, consider saving this post or sharing it with someone who might need a gentle reminder today.

And if you’re curious to explore these skills more deeply, we’re here to walk alongside you.

Some hearts you notice… and some you feel the moment you meet them.

Meet George, handsome George.
We’re incredibly grateful to the Australian Workers Union – Victorian Branch for sponsoring George and helping him continue to change lives, one quiet moment at a time.

Once a star in the competition ring, George has traded ribbons for quiet paddocks and heartfelt connections.
Standing tall at 16.3 hands, this handsome Warmblood is the very definition of grace and a gentle soul.
While he towers over the rest of the herd, George seems blissfully unaware of his size
He is convinced that he’s just one of the little guys.
It’s that gentle, humble charm that makes him so deeply loved.

Calm, steady, and just a little bit lazy, he has a way of making people feel instantly at ease.
He has a quiet self-assurance that has a magical effect on our clients.
For those who might feel nervous, George is often the first step toward building trust.
His slow, deliberate movements and kind eyes make him a natural confidence booster.
Many of our clients say that just being near him helps them feel grounded and safe.
There’s a quiet confidence about him that seems to say, " You’re okay here”.

If you’ve been needing a moment to slow down, feel steady, or simply reconnect, George is here… quietly waiting.
Come and meet him.
You might be surprised by what a moment with George can offer.

The Path of the Horse was honored to host military veterans for two days in the lead up to ANZAC Day.

We did Forest Therapy with Greg Cassidy who’s knowledge and passion for the Australian bush knows no bounds. What a wonderful experience.

Caz Pringle Bowden from Frontline Yoga was just fantastic to us. My back feels wonderful!

For Kerryn and I, it was a beautiful experience to be with such a great group that immersed themselves in the experiences especially with the herd. Some really unforgettable moments were had.

To Adam, Karen, Georgia and Kylie from Vasey Care who supported us all, very are so grateful to all of you.

Moral injury, there’s a bit of it about…

Have you ever walked away from something and thought, “That wasn’t me… that went against who I am”?

Moral injury is the psychological, social, and spiritual impact of experiences that conflict with our deeply held beliefs about what is right and fair.

It can arise from actions we took (acts of commission), actions we didn’t take (acts of omission), or moments where we felt let down or betrayed by people or systems we trusted.

Sometimes these wounds don’t shout.
They sit quietly beneath the surface, shaped by moments where something didn’t feel right.
Where our values were stretched, compromised, violated or crossed.

Moral injury can leave a deep imprint.
Feelings of moral outrage, guilt, shame, disgust, or anger may feel overwhelming and difficult to navigate.
While moral injury can sit alongside post-traumatic stress, its core often centres on a loss of trust, a questioning of meaning, or a spiritual, existential or ethical struggle.

This experience is more common than people realise, and it deserves to be understood, not carried in silence.
People experiencing moral injury deserve support.

If this resonates with you, you don’t have to hold it on your own.
Our herd and our practitioners are here to help.
We comprehend it intuitively.

The horses are wonderful, calming creatures that never lie and offer an authentic connection.

No horse experience is necessary, and we do not do trail rides.

We are registered tertiary-qualified mental health practitioners with firsthand military experience.

We deeply understand the challenges of military service and possess awareness of the experiences of emergency service workers.
