The Mood Mechanic A limited number of after-hours appointments are available if required. How to refer:
GPs – complete a Mental Health Care Plan (item No. 2715 / 2717).

Gav Lemon is an accredited psychotherapist working with people to address a range of mental health difficulties through the use of evidence-based focused psychological interventions. Arranging an appointment:
No referrals are needed to arrange an appointment, however full consultation fees will apply without a current Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, Worker’s Compensation, MAIB, NDIS f

In-person appointments are preferred, however if you require telephone or video-link appointments, please call to discuss if this is appropriate for your treatment. Medicare Item numbers:
• 80150 – up to 6 sessions initially and a maximum of 10 sessions lasting more than 20 minutes
• 80160 - up to 6 sessions initially and a maximum of 10 sessions lasting more than 50 minutes

For appointments over 50-minutes:
Full fee - $145.00
With a Mental Health Care Plan, a Medicare rebate of $79.05 will be returned to you, leaving a gap of $65.95. For those with a current Healthcare Card and Mental Health Care Plan, a 50% reduced fee is offered, leaving a gap of $32.95. For appointments minimum 20mins to 50 minutes:
Full fee - $102.95
For those with an eligible Mental Health Care Plan, a Medicare rebate of $56.00 will be returned to you, leaving a gap of $46.95. For those with a current Healthcare Card and Mental Health Care Plan, a 50% reduced fee is offered, leaving a gap of $23.45. Cancellation fees:
If you need to cancel an appointment, at least 48hours notice is required to avoid a cancelation fee. Notification more than 48hours = No fee charged
Notification 24-48 hours prior to appointment = 50% of out-of-pocket fee applies ($32.95 for full fee-paying individuals without Healthcare Card). Notification less than 24 hours or non-attendance at appointment = 100% of out-of-pocket fee applies ($65.95 for full fee-paying individuals without Healthcare Card). Financial Policy:
Payment is required on the day of appointment and can be made by card, including tap and go, chip or swipe. Medicare rebates will be paid into your account either the same day or overnight depending on your banking institution. Please note there are no provisions for after-pay or pay-later arrangements. FAQs:
- What happens once I’ve been referred by my GP? Once we have received your referral, we will call you to arrange an appointment.

- What do I need to bring to my first appointment? If we have not received a referral for you, then please bring along your MHCP, Worker’s Compensation, NDIS, DVA or Private Health Cover paperwork to your appointment. You are welcome to bring along any information you believe may be helpful for your treatment, however this is not necessary.

- What can I expect at my first appointment? The first appointment will mostly consist of a brief biopsychosocial assessment, discussion regarding expectations, and to establish a treatment plan with you.

- What if I already started seeing another mental health professional with my Mental Health Care Plan? If you have remaining sessions left under your Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) within the 12-month period, you can be referred from your GP with an amended MHCP addressed to The Mood Mechanic, and we will work with you for your remaining sessions.

- Can I bring someone along to the appointment? Individual private sessions are preferred, however if you require a support person or would like a significant other (including registered therapy dog) to be present, please call to discuss prior to your appointment.

- Do you bulk-bill? Unfortunately, we are unable to offer fully bulk-billing sessions, however we offer a 50% reduced fee for those holding a current Healthcare Card.
