Anxiety is a natural response to uncertainty and the fear of the unknown. It is deeply tied to our nervous system, triggering physiological changes that prepare our body to react to perceived threats. While this response is essential for survival, chronic or excessive anxiety can disrupt our well-being and overall health. Understanding how anxiety manifests in the body and learning how to regulate our nervous system can help us manage its effects more effectively.

The EMMETT Technique is a powerful tool for enhancing mobility and flexibility. 💪

It works by using a gentle, light touch to stimulate specific points on the body, triggering a natural response in the nervous system. Its non-invasive nature allows for effective results without the need for deep pressure or force.

Whether it's athletes looking to enhance their performance or individuals managing everyday aches, the EMMETT Technique can help restore range of motion and ease of movement.

Need a little clarity in your life?

You need to try Dirga Pranayama - 3-part breathing.
In modern life, many people breathe shallowly, using only the upper chest, which can signal stress to the nervous system. Dirga Pranayama retrains the body to breathe more efficiently. By intentionally filling the belly first, then the ribs, and finally the chest on each inhale—and reversing the flow on the exhale—this breath calms the mind and nourishes the body with oxygen.

The Balancing Breath

Nadi Shodhana, or alternate nostril breathing, is a calming and balancing breathwork technique rooted in yogic tradition. Translated from Sanskrit, nadi means “channel” and shodhana means “cleansing,” reflecting the practice’s purpose of purifying the body’s energy pathways and restoring harmony between mind and body.

This week I will be focusing on different breath work techniques that will be presented in my upcoming speaker presentation at the Systems Leadership conference in Melbourne in May.

I will add a link for the conference later this week.

Focus this week is Ujjayi Breath work.

Ujjayi breathing is commonly used in yoga asana practice to link breath with movement, but it can also be practiced on its own to cultivate calm, focus and inner resilience. The gentle resistance in the throat slows the breath, increases oxygen intake and supports the nervous system, making it especially helpful during times of stress, anxiety or fatigue.

Read more about these techniques and its benefits over at our website Fluid Nation.

One of the most powerful aspects of breathwork is its ability to reconnect us with the present moment. In times of emotional overwhelm, grief, trauma or anxiety, our minds can spiral into the past or future. Breath becomes a grounding anchor—a way to come back to now. Regular breathwork practice increases self-awareness and resilience, helping individuals process emotions and release stored tension or trauma held in the body.
