WOW!
I can say without a doubt that this is one the most profound yoga
techniques that I have ever experienced, certainly for my first experience of using it.
I learned the technique by the attached video a couple weeks ago and practised it for the first time just now. Knowing how powerful breath work can be, I intended to practise 15 minutes of this simple breath technique followed by 15 minutes of rest in savasana (using an intermittent meditation timer). After 15 minutes I decided to keep going and ended up doing 30 minutes.
During the breathing I experienced familiar feelings associated with meditation and breath work such as single pointedness, trance, feeling prana (energy moving within the body), and profound feelings of joy, love and peace. These were amplified beyond what I normally experience in my practise. I found my hands locked in a mudra with thumbs between index and middle fingers. Interestingly, I never usually use this mudra.
After 30 minutes of breath work I rested (for about 15 minutes). During this time I felt the prana even more intensely as well as the feelings of joy, love and peace. My ajna, third eye region was pulsating. I did not want to move, which is unusual for me, as I usually want to get up and do something after a meditation. It was a blissful, weightless feeling. My hands stayed locked in the mudra (at least I thought) until I wilfully moved them and it took effort to move anything. After managing to uncurl my fingers I realised that my fingers were not actually touching my thumbs, they were very close, and yet I could feel them on my thumbs. As I began to get up slowly I played with touching each finger to the thumb on both hands and something unfamiliar happened. It was as if my digits were magnetically/electrically charged and as they touched a surge of energy moved between them. I stood up and felt amazing, brand new in a way, and I still do. Physical objects have a sort of new hue to them.
My intent now is to document my experience post practice. I am to journal how I feel tomorrow, perhaps Monday, and then a week from now. If all goes well I will practise again next Saturday. I don't want to recommend this practice to anyone before I see the mid term results, but if you are one who is interested in developing consciousness and you want to learn the technique click the video.
