When anxiety is high or mood feels low, eating can become one of the first things to shift. You might skip meals without noticing, lose your appetite, feel overwhelmed by food choices, or find your eating pattern becomes irregular.

Over time, this can leave you feeling even more depleted, more anxious, and less able to cope.

At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we often support people who feel caught in this cycle. The connection between how you eat and how you feel is powerful, and one of the most helpful starting points is something simple, structured, and achievable. Routine eating.

Learn how routine eating supports anxiety and mood. Discover simple strategies and integrated dietitian and psychology support.

Low energy can feel confusing.
You might wonder if it’s stress, burnout, your eating patterns, your mental health… or all of it at once.

For many people, it is all connected.
When energy is low, everything feels harder.

Thinking clearly. Showing up to work. Socialising. Even simple daily tasks.

And when eating becomes irregular, restricted, or unstructured, it can amplify that feeling even more.
At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we often support people who feel stuck in this cycle, unsure where to begin.

Starting doesn’t need to be overwhelming.
It might look like:
• Eating regularly, even without hunger cues
• Creating a gentle daily structure
• Understanding how your mental health and nutrition interact
• Having the right support around you

You deserve to feel like yourself again. With more clarity, energy, and capacity for the things that matter.
If this resonates, our team is here to support you

Feeling constantly low on energy can be frustrating, confusing, and at times, overwhelming. It can show up as physical fatigue, mental fog, lack of motivation, or a sense that even simple tasks feel harder than they should. For many people, this experience sits at the intersection of both physical and mental health, and it is not always clear where to begin.

At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we often meet people who feel stuck in this space. They know something is not quite right, yet they are unsure whether it is related to nutrition, mental health, or both.

The answer is often a combination, and this is where an integrated, supportive approach can make a meaningful difference.

Struggling with low energy, fatigue, or burnout? Learn where to start and how integrated dietitian and psychology support can help.

No two people experience mental health challenges in the same way.

That’s why support at Myrtle Oak Clinic is always personalised.
Some people benefit from working with one clinician.

Others find that a combined approach with both a psychologist and dietitian provides more comprehensive support.

Our role is to help you understand what’s going on, and guide you toward a plan that feels manageable and effective.

When we think about mental health, we often think about thoughts and emotions.

What we don’t always talk about is how much nutrition can influence:
• Energy levels
• Mood stability
• Sleep
• Concentration
• Stress response

At Myrtle Oak Clinic, our dietitians work alongside psychologists to support both mental and physical wellbeing.

For some people, this might mean:
• Re-establishing regular eating patterns
• Supporting appetite changes during stress or low mood
• Improving energy and daily functioning

Small, consistent changes can make a meaningful difference over time.

You don’t have to fit a specific label to reach out for support.

While Myrtle Oak Clinic has a strong foundation in eating disorder care, we also support individuals experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress and other mental health challenges.

Our team of psychologists and dietitians work together to support both mental and physical wellbeing, recognising how closely these are connected.

If things have been feeling harder than they should, you’re not alone in that.

We’re here when you’re ready.

The teenage years bring rapid change. Bodies grow. Emotions intensify. Social comparison increases. Appetite can shift. Independence develops.

It can be difficult to know what is typical teenage behaviour and what may be a sign of something more concerning.

If you have been wondering whether something feels different with your teenager’s eating, that instinct is important. Early changes are often subtle.

Let’s walk through what to look for in a clear and supportive way.

A practical guide for families, partners and friends

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re worried about someone you care about.

You may have noticed changes in their eating.

Maybe food has become stressful.

Maybe meals feel tense.

Maybe there’s secrecy, restriction, bingeing, rigid rules, or constant body criticism.

It can feel confusing and confronting.

The question many people type into Google is:

“How do I help someone with disordered eating?”

The fact that you’re asking means you care deeply, and that matters.

When someone begins eating disorder recovery, it’s completely understandable to want quick answers.

Questions like:

Should I be taking supplements?
Do I need to target specific nutrients?
What’s the “right” plan for my body?
These questions often come from a place of wanting relief, certainty, or reassurance and that makes sense.

At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we take a different approach.

Not because those questions aren’t important — but because recovery works best when the foundations are in place first.

Trust, safety & lived experience
At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we know that feeling safe and welcomed is the foundation of meaningful recovery.

Our clients often share that they feel supported from the very first interaction — from a warm welcome at reception, to care that feels respectful, calm, and non-judgemental.

Recovery can involve being gently challenged, having difficult conversations, and sitting with discomfort and it’s essential that this happens in a space where you feel held and supported.

We’re grateful to the people who trust us with their care, and we’re committed to providing support that is compassionate, evidence-informed, and offered at your pace.
