Learning Skills for Life

Learning Skills for Life provides a skill based program to young adults with disabilities.

Learning Skills For Life (LSFL) is an Independent Disability Service working across Canberra and the wider ACT region to provide care to clients who may also be participants of the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme). We are committed to providing exceptional support to young adults with disabilities so that they can gain independence and have autonomy over their own lives. We do this by providing high-quality caring support that promotes independence, choice and inclusion of people with disabilities. We’re so excited to share the launch of their small business – Happy Hands Sensory 💛

This is where creativity meets inclusion. These adorable and fun sensory play kits are thoughtfully and lovingly handcrafted by our LSFL Young Adults. Every kit they create help them build skills, confidence and pride through meaningful, hands-on work 🙌🌈

This business is all about empowerment, opportunity and celebrating ability 💫

💛 Team Appreciation Post💛

This time last year, Ellie was in the depths of despair — unable to leave her apartment, struggling to make healthy choices and finding it hard to engage with her community even at the most basic level.

Today, she is thriving✨

She is the happiest she has ever been. Her day program and her friends are now an integral part of her daily life. She’s making healthy food choices and trying just about anything! She’s loving an active life filled with swimming, walks with Arlo, outtings into the community and most of all time spent with her friends. 💛

This transformation didn’t happen by chance. It happened because of the incredible team around her- a team who knew that Ellie deserved more, could do more and could BE more. A team who trusted the guidance, knowledge and wisdom of Erika (Elllie’s Advanced Behaviour Specialist), and who consistently followed that advice while believing in Ellie every step of the way.

Thank you to every member of Ellie’s support team for showing up with patience, consistency and genuine care. For backing her, encouraging her and believing in her. Thank you for genuinely caring about what you do, who you support, and how you support them. We are so proud of this team!
