Community Home Australia is an established, registered NDIS provider specialising in support for people living with younger onset dementia and disability in the ACT.

We have three small supported independent living houses in Gordon and Wanniassa and a vibrant community day centre Club Kalina in Greenway.

With a well trained, compassionate Registered Nurse led team offering 24/7 support, we provide a level of care and support unrivalled in the region.

We have four years experience supporting people living with:

Younger Onset Dementia
Parkinsons Disease
Motor Neurone Disease
Huntingtons Chorea
Psychosocial, Neurodivergent and Mental Health Disability
Intellectual Disabilities such as Down Syndrome

We also provide high level complex clinical care including palliative and end of life care.

4 vacancies for NDIS Participants, Clients on SAH packages or Private Paying.

Community Home Australia now has 4 supported living beds available across our warm, community embedded homes in Wanniassa and Gordon.

🏡 Why our homes are different:
• Real homes in real suburbs — child friendly & pet friendly
• Small, calm living environments (max 6 guests)
• Nurse owned and led with clinical oversight 7 days a week
• Strong community connection through Club Kalina activities and intergenerational programs.

💜 NDIS Funding Covers:
• Direct support worker care
• Community participation & transport (if funded)
• Non face to face supports (if funded)
✨ Additional supports available including clinical care, activities, laundry, cleaning & transport.

🌟 Welcome to Our New ACT Territory Manager, Amy Hewitt🌟

We’re excited to announce that Amy has commenced as our new ACT Territory Manager at Community Home Australia.

Amy is a highly experienced Aged Care Registered Nurse with 14 years of clinical experience. She joins us from LDK Healthcare, where she worked as the Dementia Lead and Care Partner, overseeing clinical and operational management for their dementia‑specific unit, leading care planning, mentoring a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring compliance with quality and legislative standards.

A proud Canberra local and ACU Nursing graduate, Amy is an exceptional choice to lead our ACT team, and we’re thrilled to have her on board.

Amy will be based at Kambera House and will regularly travel between Kambera House, Kot/Kiah, and Club Kalina, working closely with our teams to deliver the highest‑quality person‑centered care.

An amazing day at St Mary Mackillop College at our intergenerational program with senior students.

The senior students supported our members to bake biscuits and they rolled out fondant and iced them together, while laughing and sharing stories 🧁

We love our relationships with senior students…..

The benefits of these relationships are;

- Reduction of loneliness and social isolation
- Builds friendships and social connections
- Reduces ageism
- Boosts self esteem from both cohorts
- Enhances learning and skill sharing
- Increases understanding between generations

This is our forth year the MacKillop students and we plan on doing this for many more years to come 🌺

On Saturday attended the Bonython Primary School - ACT market stall.

We sold CHA cupcakes and played mini golf game with the students and their families.

The students loved seeing our members at their school, supporting their market.

Fun was had by all, and we would not miss it for the world. 🌍

Why we started this.....

The Community Cafe was started as a drive for change.

Getting a diagnosis of dementia can be lonely, and your community can get smaller and smaller as it progresses.

We knew these cafes were making a great impact and improving the lives of people with dementia and their loved ones nationally and around the world. We also established that they were not currently being offered in a regular location the ACT.

We hope, that by running these cafes in a permanent space - we can create a peer support network and community that can be there for each other from pre and post diagnosis and aim to reduce the stigma of living with dementia.
