Melbourne Cup fever has hit Glengara in the lead-up to today’s main event, our residents have been brimming with excitement — creating stunning table floral arrangements, crafting their own fabulous fascinators, and even bringing a green horse to life for a bit of fun! 💐🎩🐴
The energy has been contagious, and we can’t wait to see what today brings — from the fashion to the laughter… and of course, to find out who picks the winning horse 🐎🍀🎉

🎃👻 Spooky fun was in full swing at Glengara as residents and staff got into the Halloween spirit! From creative costumes to trick-or-treating and festive decorations, there were smiles (and a few playful scares) all around 🧙‍♀️🍬🕸️
It was wonderful to see everyone joining in the fun and laughter — proving you’re never too old to enjoy a bit of Halloween magic 🎃✨

A few weeks ago our residents took time to focus on something we all need to care for our mental health 💚
Throughout the week, we enjoyed a variety of activities to support mental wellbeing, including our mental health walk around the pathways, guided meditation, mindfulness colouring, exercise sessions, and other interactive activities designed to keep both mind and body active 👣
Mental health matters at every age, and it was wonderful to see so many residents taking part, connecting, and sharing moments of calm and positivity together 💫

With today’s wet weather keeping us on the bus, we were reminiscing about our recent outing to beautiful Canton Beach. Where the sun was shining, the views were perfect, and the smiles were plenty 🌞
Residents enjoyed a leisurely walk along the pathway, soaked up some much-needed vitamin D, watched the local birdlife, and finished the afternoon with a well-deserved cuppa and treats🫖🕊️
Here’s to more sunny adventures ahead☀️🚌💛

Who says you can’t dance sitting down? Our residents are proving that movement has no limits with Chair Zumba! This energetic and joy filled class is keeping everyone active, improving strength, flexibility, and coordination. All while having a great time to lively music 🎶✨
Our amazing instructor Fiona has brought a wonderful burst of energy to Glengara. She shared that this is her first-ever experience teaching Zumba from chairs, designed to ensure everyone can join in safely and confidently and she’s absolutely thrilled by the growing number of residents attending each week!
The smiles, laughter, and sense of achievement in every session remind us that fitness can be fun at any age 💪❤️

We’re honoured to have four remarkable ladies who make up our 100 Club.

Each has witnessed more than a century of extraordinary change.

They’ve lived through wars and world recoveries, seen the rise of radio, television, and the internet, and watched as horse and carriage gave way to high-speed travel and electric cars. From handwritten letters to smartphones, from ration books to online shopping. The world they were born into is almost unrecognisable today.

Yet through it all, they’ve shown resilience, grace, and an inspiring zest for life. Now, at Glengara, they continue to share their wisdom and stories — true living links to history 🌸

This week, our residents explored the Pioneer Dairy, also known as the Central Coast Wetlands. Surrounded by open paddocks, wheat stacks, and stunning scenery, it was the perfect day to enjoy the sunshine 🌾☀️

We shared afternoon tea, a few friendly games of dominoes, and a peaceful walk to the pergola before winding our way back home. What a lovely day out in nature 🌿💛

Glengara staff and residents came together to celebrate an incredible milestone…100 years of Daphne! Born October 11th, 1925, she has lived through a century of change, laughter, and love 💐
When we asked her for her secret to a long and happy life, she simply stated ~ “Minding your own business.”

Our Glengara residents enjoyed a wonderful bus trip to the Toukley District Art Centre, admiring the incredible talent of our local artists, everyone found a favourite piece!
The afternoon was complete with tea, coffee, and cake overlooking the picturesque Tuggerah Lakes. The perfect way to end a creative and inspiring outing ☕ 🍰 🖼

🎉 Bingo Fun with a Purpose! 🎉
Bingo at Glengara isn’t just about shouting “Bingo!” It’s a wonderful way to keep minds active and engaged. This much-loved game helps support cognitive function, memory, concentration, and coordination, all while bringing plenty of laughter and friendly competition.
The bonus? Residents earn Bingo Bucks for their wins — which they can spend at our Glengara Café during open hours! ☕🍰💰
Our Diversional Therapist also hosts special Bingo Bucks Spending Sprees, adding even more excitement and social interaction as residents enjoy choosing their well-earned treats together.
It’s all about keeping the brain buzzing, and the smiles wide 🤗

Spring has officially sprung over the last few weeks at Glengara 🌱 🌼

Our residents are soaking up the sunshine, surrounded by bright blooms, fresh vegetables growing in the gardens, and the joy that warmer weather always brings.
It’s a wonderful time of year to enjoy the outdoors, share a smile, and watch nature come alive again 🌸☀️
