April has been a month full of laughter, and beautiful moments shared here at Glengara 💛

We kicked things off with a delightful Easter bus trip to the Gosford Nougat & Chocolate Factory, where residents indulged in all the sweet treats on offer, a day filled with smiles, shopping, and a little bit of chocolatey bliss!

One of the most heartwarming highlights was our visit from the children at Tumbi Umbi Goodstart Early Learning. Bringing two generations together created pure magic, the sound of laughter and excited squeals during the Easter egg hunt filled our home with so much joy. It was truly special to see those connections blossom.

National Pet Day was another favourite, with our residents’ beloved fur babies being the center of attention. A big thank you to Amanda from for capturing such precious moments, memories we’ll cherish.

We were also wonderfully entertained by Carolyn on the keyboard, who had everyone singing along to classic hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. The music sparked conversation, memories, and plenty of toe-tapping!

On ANZAC Day, our dining and lounge areas were thoughtfully set to create a space of reflection and remembrance, bringing everyone together to honour the day.

And of course, we made the most of the glorious autumn sunshine with many relaxed afternoon teas soaking up the warmth and enjoying each other’s company.

April, you’ve been beautiful 🌿

Now… let’s see what May has in store!

🧩 Jigsaw Puzzle Mania was an absolute hit at our Care Apartments!

Residents gathered around the tables, sharing laughs, stories and teamwork as each piece slowly found its perfect place. There’s something truly special about the joy of seeing a puzzle come together.

Not only are jigsaw puzzles fun, they’re fantastic for the brain too! They help improve memory, support problem-solving skills, encourage concentration and even reduce stress. Plus, working on puzzles together is a wonderful way to spark conversation and connection 🧩

A beautiful afternoon of minds in motion and smiles all around… and now it’s time for a well-earned cuppa and a chat 😄

Today staff and residents came together to celebrate the incredible milestone and birthday of our most senior resident Marjorie in our apartments.

Here is a little about the things Marj has lived through and seen in her lifetime to date!

🥳 Marjorie Ellen Male - 104 Years of History 🥳

Born 12.02.1922, Tamworth NSW

When Marjorie was born…

🕰️ The World Looked Very Different

Australia had no TV, no mobile phones, no internet
Most homes didn’t have fridges or washing machines
News came from newspapers and radio
Cars were rare, and many roads were still dirt
Life expectancy for women was around 60 years – Marjorie has lived 44 years beyond that

🌍 She Has Lived Through…

The Great Depression (1929)
World War II – ration books, blackouts, and loved ones going to war
The end of horse-drawn transport and the rise of cars, planes and jets
The Moon Landing (1969) – from radio to watching humans walk on the moon
The invention of television, colour TV, computers, the internet and smartphones
Antibiotics, vaccines, heart surgery, organ transplants
Pandemics including polio and COVID-19
More than 20 Australian Prime Ministers
The reign of six British monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II

🏠 Life in Australia During Her Lifetime

Women gained more independence, rights, and opportunities
Fashion moved from long dresses and gloves to jeans and sneakers
Music evolved from live bands and vinyl to streaming
Travel shifted from weeks on ships to hours on planes
Tamworth grew from a regional town into the Country Music Capital of Australia

📆 Mind-Blowing Numbers

Marjorie has lived through:
10 decades
3 centuries (born in the 20th, living in the 21st)
Over 38,000 days
Around 3.3 million hours

💖 What This Really Means

Marjorie is a living link to history.
She has seen the world change in ways no one in 1922 could ever imagine — and she carries stories, resilience, and wisdom that cannot be replaced.

Happy 104th Birthday Marjorie from ALL of us X

This afternoon’s adventure took us on the bus to Mannering Park on beautiful Lake Macquarie. Australia’s largest coastal saltwater lake 💙

The water was the most stunning shade of blue, setting the perfect scene for a relaxing afternoon tea by the water. Ducks gathered around us, adding a little extra charm and plenty of smiles all round 🦆☕️

Fresh air, great company, gentle laughs and peaceful views, these simple outings are often the most special. Another lovely memory made together 🚍💙

What a ripper way to come together on Australia Day as we celebrated our beautiful country ☀️🇦🇺

Our outdoor patio was transformed into an outback hive of activity, buzzing with laughter and friendly competition. From mini golf, dominoes, quoits and Connect Four, to egg-and-spoon races and a crowd favourite, the Dunny Roll Toss! There was something for everyone to enjoy.

With the sounds of John Williamson, Slim Dusty, Peter Allen, Lee Kernaghan and The Seekers playing in the background, the scene was set perfectly. A huge cheer went up when the cream buns appeared, and tea, coffee, beer and wine flowed to top off a truly memorable afternoon.

Moments like these remind us how special it is to come together, share stories, and celebrate the country we call home ❤️

We hope you all had a wonderful long weekend 💚💛💚💛

There’s something truly magical about blowing bubbles ✨
That gentle breath, the shimmer of colour, and the way bubbles float effortlessly through the air can instantly lift our spirits. Bubble blowing awakens a sense of nostalgia, taking us back to simpler times filled with laughter and carefree moments.
It’s not just fun — it’s beneficial too. Blowing bubbles encourages deep, controlled breathing which helps promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support lung strength. Watching the bubbles drift and pop creates a calming, mindful moment that can brighten mood and spark joy.
Sometimes, the simplest activities bring the biggest smiles 🫧💙
