Are you okay? It's a simple question we often ask, but it's important to stop and truly listen to the answer. As a gynaecologist and obstetrician, I've learned that mental health and physical health are deeply connected, especially for women. The journey of womanhood, from menstruation to menopause, and especially through pregnancy and motherhood, can be a beautiful, but also challenging, path. It’s a path that can be filled with immense joy, but also significant stress and change.

That's why today, on R U OK? Day, I want to encourage you to check in with the women in your life—and with yourself. Ask the question, and be ready to listen without judgment. If you're struggling, know that you're not alone. September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month. It's a critical time to raise awareness about gynaecological cancers and the importance of early detection and prevention. As a gynaecologist, I'm committed to helping women understand the risks and symptoms associated with these cancers.

Gynaecological cancers include cancers of the cervix, ovaries, uterus, va**na, and v***a. Knowing the signs and symptoms can be lifesaving. Early detection often leads to more effective treatment and better outcomes. Regular check-ups, cervical screenings, and HPV vaccinations are powerful tools in prevention and early diagnosis.
