🖤💛 RU OK Day 2025 💛🖤

This morning the Sunrise team started early, gathering together over a shared breakfast before heading off in our different directions. It was a wonderful opportunity to pause, connect, and remind each other of the importance of community and friendship—both in the workplace and beyond.

R U OK? Day is about starting conversations that can make a real difference. A simple “Are you OK?” can open the door to support and connection.

🌟 Exciting news for our Sunrise community! 🌟

We are excited to announce that Sunrise Supported Living Tuncurry and Sunrise Home Care will be joining the BaptistCare family in October 2025. This transition marks a new chapter for our community, and we are excited to continue providing exceptional care and support under BaptistCare.

BaptistCare is a not-for-profit, Christian-based organisation that has been providing care and services for older Australians since 1944. As part of a newly-merged national care organisation, its legacy of compassionate service now spans across NSW, ACT, WA, VIC, TAS and SA. BaptistCare supports over 38,000 people across Australia with the help of 12,000 employees and 1,500 volunteers, delivering aged care, home care, retirement living and community services.

Our retirement village in Forster-Tuncurry, home to 106 independent living units, and our home care services, which support 66 village residents and 190 clients across the Mid North Coast, will now benefit from BaptistCare's scale and stability, along with its demonstrated commitment to person-centred care.

All 90 of our dedicated Sunrise employees will be offered roles with BaptistCare, ensuring that the familiar faces you know and trust will continue to provide the care and support you rely on.

With aligned values and a shared dedication to compassionate, quality care, we are confident this transition will enhance the services we provide and ensure continuity of care for all our residents and clients. We look forward to a positive and seamless change and are excited to be part of the growing BaptistCare family.

Thank you for your continued trust and support as we embark on this new journey together.

June Employee of the Month - Karen ⭐️

This recognition comes after some truly kind words from one of our lovely consumers who shared how grateful she was for the care and support Karen provided when assisting her to hospital. Our consumer was feeling very anxious and afraid, and felt that Karen’s calm and compassionate presence made all the difference. She felt safe, supported and reassured throughout the experience.

Thank you Karen, for going above and beyond - your empathy and dedication reflect everything we value at Sunrise Home Care. 🩷

50 years of NAIDOC
A powerful celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, strength, and self-determination. The 2025 theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," honours the unwavering resilience of Elders, the vision of communities, and the legacy that inspires future leaders. It is a time to reflect, celebrate, and commit to a shared future where Indigenous voices continue to lead with wisdom, courage, and pride.

🌸 Making Memories at Forster Tuncurry Rehabilitation 🌸

After a wonderful session together, the team took a moment to celebrate our beautiful mum-to-be, Leah. With so many helping hands (and hearts) waiting to meet this special baby, the excitement is growing by the day. 💕

Not long now, Leah — your Sunrise family is right here cheering you on every step of the way. 💐

🎉 Happy Birthday, Mena! 🎉
We recently celebrated a very special lady — our beautiful Mena!

Mena put on an incredible feast for the ladies, and our lovely Sunrise team prepared everything to make the morning extra special. It was a joyful gathering filled with laughter, delicious treats, and heartfelt moments.

And how handsome does Buddy look in the bow-tie Mena made him? 🐾🎀 He was the star of the show!

These are the precious moments we treasure at Sunrise Home Care — creating memories, sharing joy, and celebrating life together. 💛

👨‍🦳💬 A wonderful morning of mateship and conversation at our Sunrise Men’s Group in celebration of Men’s Health Week.

Over cuppas and yummy treats, our gents shared stories, laughter, and a few heartfelt moments. Supporting men’s wellbeing isn’t just about health check-ups — it’s also about connection, community, and having a space to be heard.

🧡 Making memories and supporting one another — that’s the Sunrise way.

💛 Why We Love What We Do

Recently, Ann-Maree went to visit Mena, just as she was starting to bake a Greek Spinach Pie. She joined in and helped Mena, enjoying every moment of it.

Ann-Maree asked Mena to tell her something about the pie. Mena shared:

"Johnny's (Mena's husband) cousin Maria, who is a lovely cook, taught me this dish. I don't do it much anymore as it is only me, but enjoy it when I do and when I do, I always take Johnny some."

These are the moments that truly matter — the stories, the traditions, the love baked into every recipe. It’s an honour to be welcomed into these memories.

❤️ Men’s Health Week 2025 | Men & Heart Health

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for Australian men. Many men don’t know they’re at risk until it’s too late. That’s why regular check-ups with your GP are so important - especially if you’re over 45, or over 35 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.

💥 Common risks include:
⚠️ High blood pressure
⚠️ High cholesterol
⚠️ Smoking
⚠️ Physical inactivity
⚠️ Poor diet and excess alcohol
⚠️ Stress and unmanaged mental health

💡 Small changes can make a big difference:
✔️ Get moving every day
✔️ Choose heart-healthy foods
✔️ Quit smoking
✔️ Talk to your doctor about your blood pressure and cholesterol

Let’s change the stats. Encourage the men in your life to take charge of their heart health today. ❤️
