❤️ February is Heart Health Month ❤️

Did you know that regular exercise is one of the most powerful ways to protect your heart?

Cardiovascular disease remains one of Australia’s leading health concerns, but the good news is that small, consistent lifestyle changes can significantly reduce your risk.

Simple Exercise Tips for a Healthier Heart:

✔ Aim for 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days (walking, cycling, swimming or gym-based exercise).
✔ Start gradually and build up over time.
✔ Include strength training 2–3 times per week.
✔ Break up long periods of sitting with short movement breaks.
✔ Stay consistent — regular movement matters more than intensity.

Your heart is a muscle — and movement keeps it strong.

At The Physio Clinic, our team can help you create a safe, personalised exercise plan tailored to your health, fitness level and goals.

If you’d like support getting started or progressing safely, send us a message or book an appointment with our team. ❤️ Your heart health matters.

👋 Welcome to the team, Lucy!

We’re excited to welcome Lucy, our newest Physiotherapist to the teams at The Physio Clinic and Great Lakes Physio. Lucy grew up locally and completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University in Port Macquarie. She has a strong interest in functional rehabilitation, musculoskeletal injuries, and helping people get back to the activities they love.

Outside the clinic, Lucy enjoys horse riding, bodyboarding, helping out on her family’s hobby farm – and even riding a unicycle, which she learnt while studying movement and skill development as a reminder of persistence and stepping outside her comfort zone. We’re so pleased to have her join the team and can’t wait for you to meet her.

Welcome, Lucy!

DID YOU KNOW?
Falls account for around 43% of all injury-related hospital admissions in Australia.

That surprises a lot of people, because most falls don’t start with a dramatic accident.
They usually happen during everyday activities like walking, turning, stepping off a curb or getting up from a chair.

Falls are rarely about clumsiness.
They’re more often linked to changes in strength, balance, reaction time and confidence.

That’s why falls prevention isn’t about telling people to “be careful”.
It’s about improving the physical qualities that keep you upright in real life.

👉 If falls are something you worry about, ask your physio at your next appointment whether our falls prevention program would be appropriate for you

Rehab should prepare you for real strength.
That’s why exercises like the lat pulldown feature in our rehab programs – helping retrain shoulder control, upper-back strength and coordinated movement under load.

James shows us how to use the lat pulldown to ensure you’re getting the most out of the movement, need specific help? Reach out for an appointment 👇🏼

Welcome to the team, Milla! ✨

We’re excited to welcome Milla to our admin team here at TPC for her gap year.

Milla graduated in 2025 from Great Lakes College Senior Campus and is already a high achiever both on and off the field. She’s a competitive snooker player, Vice Captain of the Tuncurry Tigerettes Soccer Team, and the first ever Female Football Ambassador for the Tuncurry–Forster Football Club.

During her gap year, Milla is gaining hands-on experience while working towards her longer-term goal of studying Social Work at Charles Sturt University.

You’ll see Milla around the clinic helping keep things running smoothly, so be sure to say hi and make her feel welcome 👋
