Strength training is so important for women as we age! Research shows that we lose significant muscle mass during menopause. There’s only one way to regain that muscle mass.. use it or lose it!!
Studies show that women may lose up to 1–1.5 per cent of muscle mass per year during menopause, with a concurrent increase in visceral adiposity.
To round out Jean Hailes for Women's Health Week, Sarah Myles, Rebecca Tapiolas, Kathy Jennings and Lauren Neill of the APA Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health national group present five discussion points about the physical and mental effects of menopause and the support physiotherapists can provide.
