✨Calendar at Capacity…Pressing Pause✨

After a hectic few months, I’ve finally made the call – I’m pressing pause and not taking on new clients for at least a few months.

If you’re an existing client or we’ve connected recently about an initial appointment, you’re all good! This decision is being made to honour my commitment to you…and to also give myself a little breathing space, because as I’m ‘closing my books’ I’m also opening up some actual books as I begin studying my Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies (more on that later).

Thanks for understanding and for letting me walk the talk when it comes to boundaries and balance. I’ll let you know when space opens up again!

🧠 Currently rebooting…

I was thrilled to present the Neurodivergent Flourishing symposium at the 2025 IPPA World Congress, and I’d like to share how this symposium came to be (those who were there know this story!)

I was at the 2023 World Congress in Vancouver, and sat in on one of very few sessions that touched on neurodivergence, a session that looked at a study ‘integrating positive psychology and autism interventions.’ Without going into detail, it was…lacking (and that’s being kind). The approaches were outdated, firmly rooted in Applied Behaviour Analysis or ABA, which the autistic community has widely condemned as harmful and traumatising - it’s an approach that aims to ‘train’ autistic people to act neurotypical, often at the cost of their mental health and identity.

I left that presentation both disappointed and worried…but also really proud of the Australian neurodiversity affirming community I was a part of. So I put the call out to an Aussie wide network of psychologists and I posted “I want to present at the 2025 IPPA World Congress about neurodiversity-affirming practice…who’s in?” Sarah Gurrin and the delightful and .mitchelson.nd.psych answered the call, and I may have done a little happy dance when I saw these names in my inbox.

We posed a central question: What does resilience and wellbeing look like when we move beyond neurotypical standards?

Because the future of positive psychology isn’t just about expanding our reach - it’s about fundamentally questioning our assumptions about what flourishing looks like. Flourishing doesn’t have a fixed shape. Resilience, meaning, and wellbeing show up in many forms - and positive psychology, at its best, should honour that complexity.

When we truly embrace neurodiversity, we don’t just serve neurodivergent people better...we expand our understanding of human potential for everyone. By moving beyond narrow definitions, we open the door to richer, more inclusive ways of understanding what it means to live well.

I may post more about it in the future…if I don’t forget or get distracted 😜

ABSOLUTELY FROTHING!! 😝
Overflowing with joy and gratitude after today’s ‘Swellbeing: A Surfing and Wellbeing Experience’ pre-Congress workshop as part of the IPPA World Congress!

What an absolute joy to share the waves with these incredible humans, who showed up with open hearts, courage, and curiosity. Together, we explored character strengths, set mindful intentions, rode the edges of comfort zones, reflected deeply, and bathed in positive emotions.

This wasn’t just a surf session…it was a moment of growth, connection, and authentic presence. A living practice of positive psychology in motion: savoring, strength spotting, meaning-making, and self-compassion - all wrapped up in saltwater and stoke.

Surfing, and (more importantly) my surfing community means so much to me, and is a huge part of my life and wellbeing practice. It was so special to share just a small part of that with our delegates today.

Huge thanks to the legends at - Michael ‘Munga’ Barry and Andrew Curtis, for their kindness, patience, and wisdom, and to my beautiful co-facilitator from - we did it!

Looking forward to enjoying the next few days of the Congress before our Neurodivergent Flourishing symposium on Saturday!

Biggest thanks to and for having me on Friday! I got to spend the afternoon with the SuperGEMS (Girls Engaged in Motorsport and STEM) chatting about overcoming the challenges of being a girl/woman in male-dominated spaces. The micro-aggressions these students have already experienced shows just how important programs like this are! Thanks for having me!
Oh and lunch with my bestie …what a day! ❤️

Lucky me to spend my Friday with these legends from at Queensland Children’s Hospital. Their job is to create positivity in the lives of sick kids, so I sent them on a positive psychology Amazing Race around South Bank to create ripples in the community. Acts of kindness, bravery, and teamwork were abound! Then back to debrief and ponder “What makes a strong team?”
Love that I get to do this work, thanks to and .positivity.institute 💜💛

On this , let’s talk about the importance of psychological safety at work. Feeling safe to speak up, share ideas, disagree with others, offer assistance, and express opinions or concerns without fear of judgment or retaliation is the sign of a healthy workplace. When work environments are supportive and safe, they protect our mental health. But when they’re unhealthy - marked by discrimination, harassment, or lack of support - our wellbeing suffers...as does business! If work is affecting your mental health, know that seeking help is a sign of strength. I’m here for you 😊

In the wake of the recent tragedy at Bondi, our hearts ache for the victims and their loved ones.

We’re feeling a wide range of emotions right now – sadness, despair, anger, fear, confusion, helplessness. Allow yourself to acknowledge these feelings without judgment. They are valid, and they are a testament to our empathy and humanity.

It’s natural to feel overwhelmed by the constant stream of news, but in times like these, it’s crucial to prioritise our wellbeing. A couple of suggestions:

🔹Consider limiting your media exposure. While staying informed is important, consuming too much negative news can heighten anxiety and stress. Pay attention to your emotional reactions and physiological responses, such as increased heart rate or muscle tension. If you notice signs of distress, take proactive steps to protect your mental health, such as practicing deep breathing exercises or engaging in grounding techniques. Set boundaries around your media consumption and give yourself permission to unplug when needed.

🔹Reach out to friends, family, or a trusted therapist or hotline (see next slide) for support. Sharing your feelings with others can provide comfort and perspective during difficult times.

🔹Practice self-compassion - be gentle with yourself and engage in activities that recharge you mentally, physically, and emotionally. Whether it’s meditation, exercise, or a beloved hobby...do the things that light you up.

🔹If you’re feeling up to it, can you channel your emotions into positive action? How can we advocate for broader, systemic change? Whether it’s the continual fight against violence towards women, or mental health care affordability, consider contacting government representatives and demanding change.

Much love 💔
