A rare moment together … lately it has felt like we are two ships sailing in two completely different oceans, not just passing in the night.

But the last two arvos we’ve managed to get the whole fam out on the headlands for a walk (and with minimal whinging too) and we (Colin and I) actually got to sit on a rock and have a chat while the kids were climbing a tree!

Simple. Nothing that special. But so needed

Looking for birth classes in the Northern Rivers?

Hypnobirthing is evidence-based, fun, engaging and a wonderful way for you and your birth partner to connect with each other, with your baby and get on the same page regarding your birth plan.

If you want to have a positive birth experience, no matter how your birth unfolds, these antenatal classes are for you. A mix of theory and practical, I will take you through a range of information to help you be aware and prepared for what to expect to feel and what will be happening in your body, provide your birth partner with tools to provide you with supportive care and play an important role in your birth.

The weekend will be both educational, interesting, inspiring and fun.

Here’s what a recent participant said: "We loved your course and felt so supported and held throughout. I really do believe that wholesome antenatal education is the gateway to ensuring we walk away from birth physically well and emotionally safe. We feel really lucky we were able to experience this from you and your course. You tow a really beautiful line between transparent evidenced-based information and encouraging families to connect with their instinct and internal wisdom. We have definitely walked away SO excited for our birth, prepared for whatever will be. Thank you thank you thank you."

Can't wait to walk beside some more couples on their birth preparation journey!

She was beautiful and smiling right until the end. Still managing to tell us what she thinks and what to do! 😂 all the nurses said she had a beautiful smile and she was an easy patient.

She was almost 97 … and when you think about that, it’s really such a long time … hard to fathom really… what an incredible life she had and an immense amount of things to live through.

I will miss her everyday, but also I know that at the end she said she was ready and wanted it to be over so I’m glad she got her last wish. Surrounded in those last weeks and days by family.

She was an incredible grandma! Loved her loud patterns and colourful clothes and personality! So many memories and so many laughs. Such a special woman x

It’s been a huge time for me lately… these last few months I’ve been walking a lot with death and dying throughout various experiences…

These last 3 weeks, navigating the path of end of life for my beautiful grandmother which has meant lots of emotions, and hospital visits, and processing …

And these last few days … learning from and the Natural Death Care Centre to become a deathwalker (death doula / end of life doula) and learn all about all things death care - supporting people in the lead up to death and after death.

For those who have been around here for a while watching my work unfold, you will know that I’ve been doing rites of passage work for a number of years and death is another rite passage I felt to explore …

I’ve been called to do this training for years, and yet never was quite ready - until I kept being faced with, and witnessing aspects of death and dying… and although HUGE and a lot to do this right now, it’s also felt really right having had these experiences … and this training not only supported me to upskill but also to understand and process death in a different way, bringing the sacredness and reverence to it that it deserves as a rite of passage

Still landing and so much to integrate but wanted to share …

How fitting that I spent International Women’s Day in the company of 2 different groups of women: this morning with a group of women who are preparing our birth stories for the Birth Stories on Stage Event coming up in April and the second half of the day with the beautiful Anna Watts and our next cohort of Doula Students coming through our training.

And the whole day spent talking about birth and how we can support women in their perinatal journey.

Ever pick up your phone and find your kid has picked it up and taken about 300 photos of the same thing? I constantly find my storage full and when I look at it - there are about 200 photos in a row of a big toe or a nostril or something. But every now and then amongst the toes and nostrils are half decent attempts at pics! These ones were taken by my 4yo - capturing a bit of our Monday nights - 6s - where we all get down there about 415 and don’t leave until 8pm.

It was a little overwhelming taking this on cos everyone gets super tired, and it’s a rush, and it does mean prepping and taking dinner down to the soccer fields for the kids, which is a bit of extra organising and head space - but now we are into the habit and swing of it, I’m really enjoying our Monday night football (soccer) nights! Preparation is key though!

Today I facilitated the beautiful Birthed to Earth postpartum circle - the creation of Dani and Oni from … a beautiful group of women in their first year of parenting!

I forgot to take any pics… but this pic was taken by my son (4yo) … I’m squinting into the sun, which is accentuating my already ‘tired mum’ face … but also this is my version of motherhood - less than perfect, a bit forgetful, tired, connecting with other mums, sharing my journey, taking my beautiful boy/s with me while I ‘work’, ‘work’ that doesn’t actually feel like work because I love sharing about birth and motherhood …

I left today with a strong feeling of gratitude … for the women, for community, for the work I get to do in the world, for my part of the weaving of this tapestry, for this incredible beautiful place to raise children, for my children, for my supportive husband, for this life.

There are over 8 billion people in the world, all living different lives and I get to live this one! ❤️

It’s Valentine’s Day in the calendar, the commercialisation of it present everywhere; with heart shaped boxes, cute teddies and special cards to share your love with someone one day of the year. The pressure to spend money, the pain of this day if you don’t have ‘love’ - the rom com version, in your life. The irony of it that these things will all eventually end up in landfill and contribute to the killing of the planet. I don’t subscribe to the commercial aspect of this day and and I have never celebrated it.

What I do subscribe to, wholeheartedly, is LOVE. An everyday, every moment relationship with love. Love of self, love of the people in your life, love of community, love of animals and all living things, love of the planet.

I wear the oxytocin molecule (the hormone of love) around my neck every single day because everything - from birth all the way through to death comes down to love. It is my constant reminder. If we can meet every moment, every day from a place of love (and all the things wrapped up in love like compassion, empathy, awareness, kindness etc) - this is how we move through life with authenticity, this is how we make change. This is how we connect to god / source / the universe / however you connect with the divine. This is how we birth in our power, this is how we meet and connect with death.

You are worthy of love - your own self love, and to be loved by others …and the world and everyone in it is worthy of love.

Sometimes I look around at what is happening in the world, in the community, and I worry for humanity. But if each and every person can just move through life with their heart wide open and the love flowing … we can heal it all.

This is my love song for today … and everyday. LOVE is everywhere, LOVE heals all.

An incredible opportunity is coming up at the end of March to learn from the amazing Jenny Blyth as she brings her workshop ‘Creating amazing space for babies’ to the northern rivers (Murwillumbah)

This workshop is perfect for anyone who works with birth but is also an incredible resource for women who are pregnant and preparing for birth!

A 2-day immersion into women’s bodies in relation to birth and pelvic health.

With a unique perspective, essential birth knowledge is shared in a relaxed style. Complex pelvic anatomy is creatively woven into highly effective hands-on body skills. This invaluable material is practical and do-able in any birth environment. It can be easily passed on and shared, and is fundamental knowledge missing from conventional (professional) midwifery, doula and birth education training.

Whatever your background, there is always more to discover. Don’t miss this precious opportunity to delve deeper into effective ways of facilitating birth and positively enhancing your practice.

Jenny last held this workshop here in 2024 and we aren’t sure when she will be back.
