Happy Sunday HC fam! Recently our Home Caring Vermont team had the privilege of attending the 20th anniversary celebration of Hope City Mission, a vital organisation making a profound difference in our community. As proud sponsors we deeply admire their unwavering dedication to providing food relief, support and hope to those in need. Hope City Mission’s initiatives extend far and wide from their compassionate crisis support programs to sustainable efforts like planting seedlings, whose produce directly benefits people facing hardship. It’s a joy to stand beside them in their mission to uplift lives and foster resilience.

Our sponsorship reflects Home Caring’s core value of giving without expecting anything in return. We’re thrilled to have contributed to initiatives like installing a sprinkler system to nurture their community garden, where fresh produce is grown for those living in crisis. Supporting Hope City Mission means investing in kindness, growth and care and we couldn’t be prouder to play a part in their incredible journey. Here’s to creating positive change together! 🩵

Here at Home Caring the Christmas spirit is already in full swing and our Home Caring - Vietnamese team's recent monthly workshop was a testament to our motto: giving rather than receiving. This month's gathering was all about spreading joy, bringing our community together and creating a warm, festive atmosphere. With games, prizes and a lively karaoke session; clients and team members alike shared laughter and plenty of smiles. A special thank you goes to our wonderful sponsors Mobility Caring and TerryWhite Chemmart in Guildford for generously donating the prizes that made the day extra special. It's these moments of connection and celebration that make our workshops so special and help build bonds that enrich our community.

As we look ahead to December we're brimming with excitement for everything the Christmas season has to offer. We can't wait to continue creating moments that make our clients feel cherished and valued. Whether it's through workshops, events or everyday interactions; we're committed to spreading kindness and joy; making this season one to remember for everyone in the Home Caring family 🩵

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”

On this Remembrance Day, we honour the courage, sacrifices and memories of those who served to protect our freedom. Here at Home Caring we understand the importance of cherishing and remembering the legacy of past generations — those who fought bravely, many making the ultimate sacrifice and those who supported them on the home front. Their strength and resilience inspire us daily to provide compassionate care, honour the dignity of every life and support the elderly and vulnerable in our community. Today, as we pause to reflect and remember, we reaffirm our commitment to providing dedicated care, upholding the values they fought for and ensuring their memory lives on. Lest we forget. 🩵

Happy Friday HC fam! Earlier this week one of our NSW Relationship Managers Zoe attended a unique networking event hosted by Lift Off El with an out-of-this-world space theme. Events like these are an invaluable way for Home Caring to connect with other industry providers and allied health professionals, expanding our reach and building meaningful partnerships within the community. Through these connections we create a more integrated environment where everyone plays a role in supporting each other and elevating the quality of care.

At Home Caring we’re constantly working on initiatives that foster a connected community. By joining forces with organisations and healthcare providers, we not only increase our brand’s visibility but strengthen our commitment to a truly inclusive care network. Together we’re building a supportive landscape where collaboration is key and everyone involved can contribute to a thriving, compassionate community 🩵

Here at Home Caring we believe that the strength of our team lies in the well-being of each individual. We know that support care work can be both rewarding as well as challenging and we’re committed to creating a supportive environment that uplifts every staff member. By fostering a sense of connection through regular team bonding exercises, we’re building more than just a team – we’re building a community that stands together. These moments of laughter, camaraderie and support remind us that no one has to go it alone, strengthening each member’s commitment to our shared mission.

Caring for others starts with caring for ourselves and Home Caring is dedicated to ensuring our team feels valued and supported. We know that prioritising mental health is key to sustainable careers, so we actively nurture an environment where team members feel empowered and appreciated. These bonding experiences not only enrich our work culture but also help prevent the isolation that can sometimes accompany support care roles. By putting our staff’s well-being first, we’re able to provide the very best care to our clients – together, as a resilient, united team 🩵

Recently we had the pleasure of hosting a fantastic networking event at our SIL home in Liverpool for like minded providers and their teams. The open and heartfelt conversations made it truly special reminding us of the genuine connections that bring our community together.

Our Liverpool SIL home embodies the essence of what we strive for—calm, warmth, and a space that feels like home. A huge thank you to Sharmila our Home caring Liverpool director for hosting and to Karen Lorenzon from our beloved “Pink-Haired Lady,” for her amazing collaboration. We’re incredibly grateful to be part of such a supportive and inspiring community.

Hidden or Invisible Disabilities Week 20-26th of October is a timely reminder that disabilities aren’t always visible. Here at Home Caring we understand that many people live with unseen challenges from neurological and cognitive to sensory and processing difficulties. Our team is committed to approaching each interaction with empathy and a readiness to support ensuring that individuals receive the patience and respect they need regardless of their unique needs or preferences.

A simple tool to discreetly share that someone may need extra time or assistance is the Hidden Disability Sunflower available as a lanyard, pin or wristband. This symbol helps to raise awareness in public spaces signaling to others that understanding and support are appreciated. If you or someone you know could benefit from this, you can get one at https://buff.ly/3MAbhoH. We wholeheartedly embrace this initiative striving to create a welcoming world for everyone whether their challenges are visible or hidden 🩵

Another day, another expo! Happy Tuesday HC fam!

Last week our Home Caring Tranmere SA HomeCaring Glenelg and Croydon Park teams came together to participate in the DAL Expo down in Adelaide. It was a wonderful weekend spent engaging with the community catching up with both new and familiar faces. What made it even more special was having another young volunteer in our midst, ready to embrace the spirit of care that Home Caring is all about.

The expo was a true reflection of what we stand for-bringing light, energy and community spirit to all we do. Special appearances from some well-known faces added extra excitement, making it a memorable event for everyone involved. Whether it's connecting with future generations or celebrating the value of our services, we're committed to keeping things fun, uplifting and impactful. We couldn't be more proud of both our teams for representing Home Caring with such heart! 🩵

This week we are thrilled to shine a light on the incredible achievements of our four finalists in the prestigious Victoria Disability Sector Awards which will be held this Friday. As a team we are brimming with pride and excitement, knowing that these nominees have already proven themselves as champions in their fields. The recognition of their dedication and commitment only amplifies what we have long known — that they truly go above and beyond in every aspect of their roles, setting a standard of excellence that we strive for each day.

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Don Fontabla and Shannyn Gereg from our Home Caring Vermont team as well as
Nitu Kaur from Home caring Mill Park Victoria and Priya Nathan from our HomeCaring Narre Warren team. Each of these individuals has made a lasting impact within the disability sector, whether through visionary leadership, compassionate case management or their relentless pursuit of quality care. Their nominations speak volumes about the dedication they bring to their work and the respect they have earned from their peers and clients alike.

Home Caring going above and beyond for our clients is not just a philosophy — it’s woven into the fabric of who we are. We see this in the actions of all our carers every single day. Their commitment reflects the heart of our mission and we are immensely proud to see their efforts being celebrated on such a prominent stage.

As we approach Friday’s awards we are filled with anticipation and joy, eager to celebrate the triumphs of our four nominees. While the outcome of the evening remains unknown, in our eyes they are already winners. It is an honour to stand behind them and we look forward to celebrating not just their recognition but the collective success and values that these remarkable individuals represent 🩵

National Carers Week kicks off today and across Australia there are a bunch of exciting events lined up not to mention we've got some great ones coming up ourselves as well! This week is all about celebrating the incredible unpaid carers who do so much for their loved ones every single day no matter their background, age or story.

With the theme 'Millions of Reasons to Care, we're reminded that anyone can become a carer at any time. The recent Carer Wellbeing Survey showed that carers with strong support have better health and wellbeing — so let's all be mindful and lend a hand.

Here's how you can show you care:

- Check in regularly
- Treat them to coffee or lunch
- Acknowledge their hard work
- Offer support
- Encourage them to take some "me time"

03/10/2024

From October 3rd 2024 there have been significant updates to the NDIS aimed at providing participants with more flexibility and clearer guidelines. These new changes will establish specific definitions of what supports can and cannot be funded offering more transparency in how funding is utilised.

Key updates include a clearer definition of NDIS supports to help participants make well-informed decisions. A substitution process will also be introduced, allowing participants to request alternative supports if necessary.
Additionally new plans approved after October 3rd will feature a total budget and funding period making it easier for participants to manage their funding.

While these changes won't affect most current services, we understand that any updates can raise questions.

Home Caring is here to guide you through the process ensuring you fully understand the new rules and how they may impact you.
