How we fuel our body is so important to ensure it is able to perform all that is required of it on the daily and function optimally. These are a few simple steps that can help you get through your day without crashing and burning, and most importantly, reaching for the processed c***!

~๐™€๐™–๐™ฉ ๐™—๐™ง๐™š๐™–๐™ ๐™›๐™–๐™จ๐™ฉ ๐™—๐™š๐™›๐™ค๐™ง๐™š ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ๐™ช๐™ข๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™˜๐™ค๐™›๐™›๐™š๐™š ๐™ค๐™ง ๐™˜๐™–๐™›๐™›๐™š๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™š.
Consume coffee or caffeinated drinks first thing in the morning before consuming food, spikes our blood sugar levels, increases our cortisol levels which affects our nervous system, and reduces our hunger signals (not what we want to be doing first thing in the morning!)

Carbohydrates are the bodyโ€™s main fuel source, however when we eat them on their own, we donโ€™t provide our body with long lasting energy as we would when we pair them with a proteins and healthy fats, rather we only provide the body with a short lasting fuel source which will cause us wanting more to eat soon after.

~๐˜ฟ๐™ง๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™  ๐™ฅ๐™ก๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ฎ ๐™ค๐™› ๐™ฌ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง, ๐™–๐™ž๐™ข๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™›๐™ค๐™ง 1-2๐™‡ ๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ง ๐™™๐™–๐™ฎ
By drinking plenty of water, we help our body with a tone of bodily processes; detoxification, healthy blood pressure, healthy muscles, but it also means weโ€™re less likely to reach for extra nibbles or liquids full of sugars and unwanted calories between meals. I like to add in a pinch of Celtic salt to help the water pe*****te into the cells.

This has been my saviour during those afternoon slumps when I need a pick me up, itโ€™s packed full of vitamins & nutrients, antioxidants to help target overall health, immune system, healthy blood sugar levels, energy and tastes amazing! By working together to support this clientโ€™s natural detoxification and skin healing processes through diet, lifestyle and individualised supplemental compounds, they were able to get great results! With their natural cycle/period coming back ๐—ฒ๐˜…๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—น๐˜† 28 days after stopping the contraceptive pill, and their hormonal acne clearing up almost completely, with the odd spot popping up here or there around week 3/4 of their cycle, just a few months later.

Iโ€™m always so happy to hear of these results when working with clients, it brings the reason I want to work as a health practitioner and help treat the causes of health issues rather than just the symptoms to light.

Surely it canโ€™t be that hard to do correctly, right?? But have you ever finished off your plate of food and wondered how that happened so fast?

Did you know that when you ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ปโ€™๐˜ chew your food properly it can actually lead to and cause other health issues?

Our digestive processes begin in both the ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต and ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฑ, the mouth obviously as thatโ€™s where the chewing of our food occurs, which helps promote the use of digestive enzymes found there, but it also begins in the mind as we need to be focused on eating while we eat, not focused on all the other thoughts we have going on in our mind - hence the gut-brain connection via our vagus nerve.

Eating too quickly can lead to many signs and symptoms listed in this post, most of which are pretty uncomfortable - bloating, heartburn, constipation. ๐—ข๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐—ต!

Not chewing your food for the optimal amount of time or to the right consistency not only causes many of the symptoms listed in this post, but can also lead to nutrient deficiencies as the digestive system is having to work harder to further break down the food for you, and therefore not able to absorb all the nutrients that your food may have been providing.

As a Nutritionist, something I often consider when looking at a clientโ€™s diet and health issues is whether their body is able to optimally absorb the nutrients theyโ€™re fueling themselves with, how they eat, and what theyโ€™re doing while eating ie, sitting in front of the tv or sitting at a table without distractions.

When our body is out of sorts and under stress, itโ€™s important to reduce the amount of extra stress and work we put on our body and specific systems, like digestion.

By eating warming foods like soups, stews, curries, veggie-ful one-pot meals, weโ€™re helping to support our body digest and absorb as much out of that meal as possible and reduce the amount of work if has to do in comparison to eating cold and uncooked foods like salads.

This isnโ€™t to say you can never eat raw foods, but when our body is healing or needs some extra support, warming meals are certainly the way to go.
