What are wrinkles and lines?

As time passes, our skin naturally changes. One of the most common signs of these changes is the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. They are part of the normal ageing process, influenced by factors such as genetics, lifestyle, and environmental exposure.

While wrinkles and lines are a natural reflection of life's journey, many people look for ways to support their skin as it matures. A consistent skincare routine, sun protection, healthy nutrition, and professional treatments can all play a role in helping the skin look and feel its best.

Treatment areas
Frown lines — When we concentrate, worry, or show displeasure, the muscles between our eyebrows naturally contract. With repeated movement over time, these expressions can contribute to the appearance of lines in this area.
Forehead lines — Lifting the eyebrows causes horizontal creases to appear across the forehead. With age and repeated expressions, these lines may become more noticeable, even at rest.

Crow's feet — Often associated with smiling, laughing, or squinting, these lines appear at the outer corners of the eyes. Over time, they can develop into fine lines that remain visible beyond the expression itself.

What is volume and definition?
Our skin's appearance is influenced by many factors, including its structure, hydration, and natural elasticity. When we talk about skin volume, we're describing the look of fullness and support beneath the skin's surface, which contributes to a healthy and balanced facial profile.

Definition refers to the way natural contours are highlighted — such as the outline of the jawline, cheekbones, or other areas that give the face its unique shape. Good definition allows light to reflect in a way that enhances facial harmony and balance.

Areas commonly discussed include cheeks, lips, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds, tear troughs, marionette lines, and temples.

Flu season is here. Are your vaccinations up to date?

It's the time of year we start thinking about flu shots — but flu is only part of the picture. Many adults are due for other vaccinations and don't realise it.

A few things worth knowing:

Vaccines aren't just for kids. Protection from some vaccines decreases over time, which is why boosters are recommended for adults too.

Some vaccines protect more than just you. Staying up to date helps protect the vulnerable people around you — babies, older adults, and anyone with a weakened immune system.

You might not be fully up to date. Many adults miss vaccinations included in the Australian schedule or recommended based on age, lifestyle, or travel — including whooping cough, pneumococcal, shingles, and seasonal flu.

Staying protected is a lifelong process, not a one-time event. Booking in for your flu shot is also a good opportunity to discuss your other vaccination options — shingles, pneumococcal, whooping cough and more — and check what's recommended for you.

If you're not sure what you're due for, our team can help. Call us on 02 4455 5422.

Continuity of care means seeing the same doctor over time, not starting from scratch at every appointment.

At Ulladulla Endoscopy & Medical Centre, we value long-term patient relationships and consistency in your choice of doctor. When care is continuous, communication is clearer, medical history is better understood, and patients feel more confident in the decisions being made.

In regional communities, this kind of care can be hard to access. It is something we actively prioritise, because people deserve healthcare that feels personal, considered, and consistent.

Ulladulla Endoscopy & Medical Centre is a family-run medical centre, built on relationships, continuity, and patient-centred care.

We believe healthcare works best when patients know who is caring for them, feel listened to, and experience consistency over time, not a faceless system or constantly changing clinicians.

In regional communities like ours, this kind of care can be hard to come by. We are proud to offer a medical environment grounded in trust, familiarity, and professional care.
