Fine Arts trained/ Masters in Art Therapy. Trauma-informed Neurodiversity-Affirming Art Therapy/Clinical S’vision in Milton-Ulladulla.
Also online & mobile service. I have operated a registered and insured in-person, online and mobile private practice - ArtFull Therapy - in Sydney and more recently on the NSW south coast since 2011. Professional Clinical Supervision is also available. I bring a creative, warm, playful and intuitive approach to my work with clients. Growing up in Africa and experiencing several relocations with a young family gave me deep insight into what helps build resilience; what it takes to create a sense of belonging and how to connect with and walk alongside others during life's surprising and often unpredictable unfolding. As a Fine Art and Journalism graduate with an early career in hospitality, public relations and advertising, I later found a passion in volunteering with causes close to my heart. My love for art and helping others happily collided through Art Therapy. I've run an established and successful private practice supporting children, adolescents and adults with a broad range of concerns through trauma-informed/ strengths based / attachment theory lenses. My years of experience working in the special needs arena includes individuals with cognitive/physical needs, neurodiversity and adults with ABI/Stroke. My interest in aged care brought me to Sydney's Memory Innovations Centre where I developed and curated groups for ageing adults living with wellbeing and / or cognitive concerns, also creating innovative online programs during Covid19. I am passionate in guiding people to develop a greater sense of self through their creative process, leading to meaningful change-making and developing strategies to assist with daily life challenges and key relationships. With my background in Fine Arts and graphic design, and having taught art to those living with additional needs, stroke and dementia, I am able to encourage your personal creativity to flourish. "Finding passion in the process rather than perfection in the product" is my goal for my clients. Look out for ongoing local and online groups. Romny is available to facilitate educational sessions on art therapy, corporate workshops and art retreats (check out www.artfulretreats.com). If you are in the Northern Hemisphere and would like to access art therapy via online zoom sessions, we work closely with Penelope Orphanoudaki in Switzerland. Please contact her directly on artfulretreats@icloud.com

If you or a supported loved one are on the NDIS, this informative newsletter has a very important survey which, if completed by you, could provide the new NDIS ministers with some valuable feedback on your current experience of the NDIS and accessing the supports you value and need into the future.
A lot has changed since our last newsletter. We have a new Parliament, new Ministers, and the NDIS now sits in a new Government department.

Finally ✨THANK YOU✨Bessel van der Kolk. In the treatment of trauma, when time is distorted and sensations live on, is one of the modalities which facilitates imagination and the discovery of new possibilities which can lead to hope for the future. Finding meaning in colour, shape and form when words are inaccessible or difficult, and sensation and emotions override rational thought.

At ArtFull Therapy we are committed to creating a safe ONLINE or face-to-face space where adults and children alike can, through the creative platform explore their work/life issues, their relationships and health and wellbeing. No prior art making experience is necessary to engage in this form of counselling.
Under the supervision of Romny Vandoros - a Masters-level trained Art Therapist, clients are encouraged to discover new ways to understand themselves and find solutions to life complexities. Sessions are held ONLINE, In-Studio or a MOBILE service where we come to you. Online sessions will require an understanding of the ZOOM application.
Creativity has many benefits: It assists in language and communication development; socialisation; the use of gross and fine motor skills; regulation and understanding boundaries, building resilience and confidence; assisting in self-reflection and awareness which may lead to inner change. Making art builds skill. It is relaxing and, it's FUN because it activates the reward centres of our brains which help us to relax.
CHILDREN : Do you have a child who is struggling socially or learning to control their emotions? Is you child experiencing difficulties at school? Children often don’t have the language to express their thoughts and feelings, and bombarded with today’s social media pressure, they may have difficulty understanding boundaries and the complexities of relationships. Romny has a particular professional focus on children diagnosed with ASD or those expressing autistic traits. Guided by Romny, children are encouraged to make art and learn how their art expresses their internal and external worlds. They are then able to build on coping skills suited to their age and situation. Online sessions will require an understanding of the ZOOM application, and children may need to be supervised at all times.
CARERS: Having worked with adults with compromised health such as dementia and stroke, and within the additional needs sector for almost a decade, Romny has a good understanding of the stressors experienced by Carers. Self-care is critical for ongoing wellbeing. Research tells us that Carers often begin to feel isolated, depressed and overwhelmed. Art making reduces stress, lowers blood pressure and stimulates our imaginations.
ADULTS: Group or one-on-one sessions may be held.
Stroke/Aphasia: Of particular interested may be a co-facilitated multi-cultural art group held at Macquarie University for people with Stroke/Aphasia. Call the Speech and Hearing Hub for more details.
Seniors : Creative activities are hosted in-house and online at the new Government funded Memory Innovations Centre in Waitara. No prior art making experience is necessary, so please enquire. The benefits of creativity are broad: social inclusion, acceptance by a peer group, resilience, communication, skill-building and stress reduction.
All clients are taught through the therapeutic creative process to ENGAGE, CREATE, REGULATE and COMMUNICATE.
Corporate Events/ Presentations/ Retreats: Romny is available to facilitate thematic corporate workshops and art retreats. Retreats are held in Switzerland, Greece and Singapore. Please take a look at the schedule. All enquiries welcomed. www.artfulretreats.com
