FATS THAT HEAL - Essential fatty acids (EFAs)
The human brain is nearly 60% fat and fatty acids are one of the most crucial molecules that determine our brain's structure and function, as well as carrying out many other vital roles in the body๐
However, not all fats are equal. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are fatty acids that our body cannot make and therefore we need to ensure we get plenty through our diet.
The 2 EFAs are omega-3 & omega-6, with omega-3 often being what people need to INCREASE, as omega-6 is found in many more frequently consumed foods.
How do EFAs support our health...

โจHormonal production, function & balance (incl. reproductive)

BALANCE between our omega-3 and 6 foods is key, as excess of omega-6 can play an inflammatory role in the body. However, I like to focus on consuming MORE omega-3 foods, than restricting healthy omega-6 foods.
Many many years ago I sold into the fear that โfat makes you fatโ but like many fears, it was unfounded and oh how wrong I was!

Foods to focus on โฌ๏ธ โฌ๏ธ are fish, especially cold-water fish e.g.salmon, mackerel, tuna (in moderation), herring & sardines, flaxseed (a good source especially for non-meat eaters), chia seeds & walnuts.
