🐾 Animal bite? Here’s what to do 🐶🐱

If you’ve been bitten or scratched by an animal and you’re unsure what to do, it’s always best to check in with your CureWell GP.

If the bite breaks the skin, please see your GP as soon as possible. Even small bites can become infected and may need medical treatment.

🚑 Seek urgent care immediately (go to the nearest Emergency Department) if:

• The wound is large or deep

• The bite is on the face or head

• You can’t stop the bleeding

🩸 How is anaemia diagnosed?

Anaemia happens when your body doesn’t have enough red blood cells or haemoglobin to carry oxygen effectively. If you’re feeling unusually tired, dizzy or short of breath, your GP can help investigate what’s going on.

🔬 Common tests may include:

• A full blood count (FBC) to check red blood cells and haemoglobin

• Blood tests to assess iron, vitamin B12 and folate levels

• A blood film, where a pathologist looks at the size and shape of your red blood cells

🩺 Depending on your symptoms and results, your doctor may:

• Organise further tests

• Refer you to a specialist if needed

If you have symptoms or concerns, don’t ignore them — your CureWell GP is here to help 💙
