🌿 Meet Renee – Counsellor at CCFP 🌿
Renee is a PACFA-registered Counsellor who brings a wealth of experience working with children, adolescents, families, and schools.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology), a Bachelor of Teaching (Primary), and a Master of Counselling & Psychotherapy. Before becoming a therapist, Renee spent many years working as a primary school teacher, giving her a unique understanding of the challenges children and families can face across home, school, and community settings.
Renee’s approach is grounded in safety, connection, and collaboration. Rather than focusing on compliance or enforcing neurotypical expectations, she works from a low-demand, neuroaffirming framework that prioritises protecting the young person’s nervous system, reducing anxiety, and supporting their individual strengths. She believes meaningful change happens when children and young people feel safe, understood, and empowered.
Working closely with clients, families, and schools, Renee helps create practical pathways towards positive outcomes and lasting growth. She is passionate about creating welcoming therapeutic spaces where everyone feels comfortable and valued. Her sessions often incorporate play, creativity, sensory experiences, movement, and curiosity to support engagement and connection.
When she’s not at work, Renee can usually be found spending time with her family and her two furry children, Basil and Pippa, tackling a new creative project, tending to her growing collection of plants, or enjoying a good coffee (or a cosy cup of tea).
🐴 Fun Fact: Renee spent her early years growing up on a rural farm, where she developed a love of animals and spent much of her childhood riding horses.
