Wishing all of my patients and their family a fantastic chocolate filled Easter! ๐ฐ๐ซ
โ Many untreated trigger points can either effect sinus drainage directly or indirectly through their referral pattern over sinus cavities.
โก Releasing trigger points around the neck and shoulders can often bring sinus relief.
โข Jaw (TMJ) problems, including trigger points in the jaw muscle, can mimic or exasperate sinus pain.
โฃ Sinus headaches are often misdiagnosed and can, in fact, be Myofascial trigger points.
โค In the absence of a sinus infection, a therapist skilled in trigger point therapy can release sinus associated trigger points or give you a self-treatment plan to treat your own trigger points.

A fantastic article about the benefits of trigger point therapy for fibromyalgia patients suffering with neck and muscle pain.
"Myotherapy is a great option if youโre interested in massage. Myotherapy uses a broader range of massage techniques than a typical therapeutic massage does. They focus primarily on trigger point therapy but might also use other techniques such as dry needling, musculoskeletal alignment, deep tissue massage, cupping, and muscle stretching in addition to a range of rehabilitative exercises."
Columnist Robin Dix writes of her struggle with neck and shoulder pain, and shares research on how to relieve it, from exercise to alternative therapies.

Ouch! ๐ค๐ค Never hold in a sneeze! In addition to ruptured throats, there is a serious risk of suffering from pulled muscles in the back and neck. There have also been reported cases of burst eardrums, ruptured blood vessels in the eyes, damaged facial nerves, broken backs, and even cracked ribs! ๐ฌ
Holding your nose and closing your mouth while you sneeze might seem a harmless thing to do, but doctors have advised against it following the case of man who ruptured the back of his throat when doing so.

About Illawarra Trigger Point Therapy treatments; Can our treatment be applied through clothing?
As a practising soft tissue therapist for 23-years, I have been fortunate to have worked in both an elite sports environment and within the rehabilitation field, treating both sports and occupational injuries. I have had the privilege of working with, and alongside, many different health professionals including; musculoskeletal specialists, sports physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, exercise scientists, massage therapists & acupuncturists. Learning from and exchanging ideas with such a vast range of health professionals has helped me gain a wide range of experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
Throughout all my experiences I have constantly found myself returning to Trigger Point Therapy as the primary modality of treatment for patients. With years of research, practice, and positive client feedback, I have found that Trigger Point Therapy has been by far the most effective and long-lasting form of Therapy.
I have had scores of patients come to me who have suffered for years with unrelenting pain, from ailments such as, migraines, back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, sports injuries and occupational injuries, who have tried every therapy under the sun. Many of these patients were ready to give up on treatment, but with the help of Trigger Point Therapy gained almost complete recovery within just 4-6 sessions. This still amazes me, but even more so, Iโm amazed that most health professionals know little about the benefits of this highly effective form of therapy, and often refer patients to medical treatments that are unable to help them effectively manage their pain.
At Illawarra Trigger Point Therapy centre we believe no one should go untreated. We are experienced in treating the musculoskeletal injuries of patients with developmental disabilities and are happy to provide a safe, reassuring and personalised treatment based on each patient's individual needs. In addition, to meet the needs of those who are body shy, we also provide a safe space where clients are able to receive the treatment they need without sacrificing their personal comfort. Most treatments can be applied through the clothing, with the exception of dry needling.
Feel free to give us a call when you book to find out how our treatment can meet your needs, or book an appointment online today.
