Christopher Reeve was an American actor, author and activist, known for his role as super man in 1978 and it’s three sequels. Following an accident in 1995, Reeve was paralysed from the shoulders down and channeled his creative drive into film direction. Beginning in the 1980’s, Reeve was an activist for human rights causes as well as freedom in artistic expression. He called for spinal injury research and better insurance coverage for people with disabilities, ultimately co-founding the Reeve-Irvine research Center, and leading the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, both of which operate today. His story, and legacy, continue to inspire others around the world.
