International Allyship Day 🧡

Today is a reminder that allyship is more than words – it’s about action, empathy, and using our voices to support those around us.

Being an ally means listening, learning and standing up for inclusion, respect, and equality every day, not just when it’s easy.
Let’s keep showing up for one another – today, tomorrow, and always.

Alt Text: Orange graphic with bold black text reading ‘International Allyship Day’ above two illustrations. On the left, four hands are shown holding each other’s wrists in a circle, symbolising unity. On the right, a ribbon with the words ‘Allies matter’ is displayed. 🍦✨ We had a fantastic time at the Burnside Disability and Inclusion Expo!
Our team loved connecting with the local community, meeting other passionate service providers and celebrating inclusion in action.
A highlight of the day? Our paper ice cream origami activity – a fun, hands-on way to support fine motor skill development (and spark a few smiles too! 😊✂️).
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, it was wonderful to chat, share and learn together.

July is Disability Pride Month🧡

While it’s not yet widely celebrated in Australia, Disability Pride Month is an important time to recognise and honour the strength, identity, and diversity of people with disability.
It’s about shifting the focus:
From stigma ➡️ to strength.
From barriers ➡️ to belonging.
From silence ➡️ to pride.

At Complete Disability Services we’re proud to walk alongside people with disability every day.
Whether it’s through our allied health supports or simply listening, we believe in a world where disability is seen, valued and respected.

What is Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)? 🤔

AAC includes all the ways someone might communicate without using spoken words. It supports people who have difficulty with speech or language, helping them express themselves more clearly and confidently.

AAC can include:
✅ Pictures or symbols
✅ Communication boards or books
✅ Speech-generating devices
✅ Gestures or sign language

AAC is for anyone—children or adults—who needs support with communication, whether temporarily or long-term. Everyone deserves a voice. AAC helps make that possible.

If you or someone you know is seeking support, please reach out.

🧏‍♀️👨‍🦯 Deafblind Awareness Week 2025
This week, we’re raising awareness for the deafblind community — people who experience both vision and hearing loss, and who often face unique communication and access barriers. At CDS, we’re committed to inclusion, accessibility, and advocacy. Whether it’s through personalised therapy, assistive technology, or communication support, we believe everyone deserves the tools to connect, express themselves, and thrive.
Let’s work together to build a world where no one is left out or left behind.🧡
