Parts of Taree and Dumaresq Island flooding

Emergency Warning
The NSW SES is directing people in the following area(s) to EVACUATE BEFORE 5:00 pm Tue 20 May due to dangerous major flooding:
- Low lying areas of Taree
- Dumaresq Island
You must evacuate before this time because dangerous floodwaters may cause isolation or inundation.
You should evacuate to stay with family, friends, or alternate accommodation in areas unaffected by flooding. If you are unable to find accommodation, Evacuation centres have been set up at:
- Club Taree, 121 Wingham Road, Taree NSW
If you remain in the area, you may become trapped without power, water, and other essential services. It may be too dangerous for NSW SES to rescue you, and buildings may not be able to withstand the impact of flood water.
What are we expecting?
The Bureau of Meteorology advises the Manning River at Taree is currently at 2.88 metres and rising, above the moderate flood level (2.40 m). The Manning River at Taree may exceed the major flood level (3.70 m) late Tuesday afternoon. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
Based on predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, the following areas may be impacted by dangerous floodwaters:
- Low lying area in parts of Taree and Dumaresq Island may become isolated or inundated by floodwater.
This event may change quickly. NSW SES will monitor the situation and update warnings if the situation changes.
