Beauty in the cracks

I’ve always loved the philosophy behind Kintsugi—the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with gold.

Instead of hiding the cracks, it highlights them. Makes them part of the story. And shows the beauty in imperfection.

A bit like us, really. The wrinkles, the scars, the laughter lines and more! They are all golden seams that show we’ve lived, loved, hurt, healed, and kept going. Stronger, shinier and more resilient.

This event at Narrabeen was by Kintsugi Heroes and with Grand Master Ju San.

And I’m genuinely quite chuffed with my golden dish ( and yes, I did have a bit of help)!

“Self-care is giving the world the best of you, instead of what’s left of you.” – Katie Reed

This phrase really landed with me after attending a brilliant workshop on avoiding burnout.
It’s a powerful reminder that taking care of ourselves isn’t selfish — it’s essential.

We give so much to others, but how often do we refill our own cup?

That’s exactly what I try to offer through my classes and events — space to nurture, nourish, and recharge. Because when we prioritise our own wellbeing, we show up better for everyone else too.

After a little R&R of my own (pics from a recent winter bushwalk 🧡) I’m excited to share what’s coming up:

🌕 Full Buck Moon – Yoga & Deep Relaxation

Thursday July 10 | 7–8:30pm
📍 Narrabeen Surf Club

A midwinter evening of gentle movement and moon magic — slow flow yoga, Qi Gong, sound healing, and calming acupressure to release, reset, and reconnect.

We’ll close with Yoga Nidra and a cup of ceremonial cacao, overlooking the ocean by moonlight.

💛 Spaces are limited, so book soon.

☀️ And Term 3 Sunset & Sunrise Yoga returns from July 22 & 23 — bookings are open now on the website under Live Classes.

This is your invitation to prioritise YOU.
Because you deserve to give the best of you — not what’s left.
Love,

Wanderings, Wisdom & Yoga Day Wonders

The past few days have been a beautiful blend of travel, culture and yoga as I explored Malaysia 🇲🇾 — soaking up the vibrant streets of Kuala Lumpur and the history of Melacca.

It was fabulous to find myself in Little India on International Yoga Day! 🌸🧘🏽‍♀️ International Yoga Day (June 21) celebrates the ancient practice of yoga and its power to unite body, mind and spirit. Declared by the United Nations in 2014, it’s now marked all over the world with community events, flows and celebrations of yogic wisdom.

I also visited the Batu Caves – a colourful Hindu site, where towering golden statues (including Lord Murugan) welcome you to a temple inside the limestone cliffs. I also wandered through temples filled with vibrant images of Ganesh and other deities that we explored in last term’s yoga classes.

I can’t wait to share more about the Hindu Goddesses next term — their myths, archetypes and the yogic lessons they offer us.

From KL’s glittering skyline and cultural richness to the streets of Melacca with its winding lanes, spice-laden air and riverside strolls… this trip has been a feast for the senses!

Now heading home — heart and camera roll full — and mentally preparing for the winter chill!

Greetings from the UK!🇬🇧

Spending precious time with my dad in beautiful Bournemouth on the south coast. 🇬🇧

We’ve been soaking up the charm of English gardens and summer at the stunning Kingston Lacy and taking peaceful strolls along the coast - including the Bournemouth goats that hang out on the cliff tops!

It’s all felt very grounding — especially in these uncertain times.

There’s something deeply therapeutic about being with family, breathing, walking and noticing nature.

Sending love and calm to you all — I hope you’re doing okay wherever you are. Can’t wait to be back in class with you in July!
With love,
Katie xx

New Strawberry Moon event!
Replenish your energy and refill your cup 🌺

Thursday, May 29
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
At Narrabeen Surf Club (corner of Albert and Ocean Street, Narrabeen).

As the New Strawberry Moon graces the late-autumn skies, we are invited into a space of deep stillness and quiet renewal. This new moon, though named for the sweet fruit of the Northern Hemisphere, offers us a different kind of ripening—an inner blossoming through softness, surrender and intention.

With the crisp air and lengthening shadows, this is a gentle call to pause, exhale and honour the quiet power of beginning again.

Join me for an evening of nourishment and restoration, where we’ll align with the energy of the new moon and the rhythm of the season.

We’ll begin with grounding movement and mindful breathwork to calm the nervous system and create space within. This will flow into a gentle yoga sequence designed to release tension and soften the body, before settling into a deeply restful Yoga Nidra—a guided meditation to plant seeds of intention, clarity, and calm.

This experience will be enriched by soothing sound healing, helping you attune to your inner rhythm and the subtle wisdom of the new moon.

To close, we’ll share warm cacao with almond milk and a selection of herbal teas, offering a moment to sip slowly and savour the nourishing quiet of this seasonal threshold. Book via live classes in my website or message me 🌺🙏🌺🧡

Feeling replenished after running another Restorative Yoga Teacher Training at the beautiful Sage Manor Retreat in Bowral.

Over 2.5 days, we explored the foundations of restorative yoga—building personal practices, learning how to teach this deeply supportive style and discussing the science behind the relaxation response and much more!

We shared practical sessions, thoughtful discussions, nourishing food (thank you Kylie and Jason), gentle walks in nature, sound healing and experienced more than 30 restorative shapes.

Such a fabulous group of women with a wealth of wisdom. A full, fun and rewarding weekend of learning, connection and rest.

Comments included:

“Katie’s teacher training was perfect for me. I particularly appreciated the blend back into the yoga principles and with Chinese medicine.” Stella Muspratt

“Katie’s expertise and personality made this training so valuable. The materials provided and the practical application of poses added confidence to my practice. The opportunity to be a student in her classes was fabulous as we could experience the expertise in a class setting.” Melanie

✨Graduated!✨

After completing my Diploma in Counselling through Northern Beaches Community College, I had the opportunity to study an Undergraduate Certificate in Mental Health at Monash University — and I’m so excited to share that I’ve now officially graduated… with High Distinctions in all my subjects!

Over the past couple of years, I’ve been juggling study around teaching yoga, being a mum, and the usual life load many of us carry — so this feels like a big, happy milestone.

The course was incredibly thorough - blending coaching tools with core aspects of mental health, including:

🧠 Trauma-informed care

💬 Counselling and communication strategies

👥 Mental health in diverse communities

🌿 Holistic and preventative approaches to wellbeing

Together with my counselling training, I’m now looking forward to integrating coaching and mental health support into my yoga offerings — for a more holistic approach.

I believe we need to prioritise our mental wellbeing — not just for ourselves, but for our families and the wider community.

These studies have reinforced that caring for the mind is just as important as caring for the body and soul.

Thanks for being part of the journey.

A very Happy Mother’s Day to all you incredible mums!

We started the celebrations early with our Women’s Wellness Day Retreat at the beautiful Narrabeen Surf Club yesterday.

It was a day of gentle movement, stillness, connection, and nourishment.
We started with a welcome drink of grated ginger and honey and opened our gift packs —which included some fabulous creams Thanks to for the amazing Wild Yam Cream, nourishing body mousse and Muscle Magic.

Qi Gong on the grass set the tone, followed by warming chai and bliss balls, breathwork, and a guided relaxation.

Lunch on the balcony gave us space to connect — gluten free mushroom and broccoli quiches and pumpkin tarts from From Silvia (you’ll find her at the Narrabeen Friday market), green salad, soda bread, and beetroot coconut curry.

The afternoon included face yoga, massage, more deep rest, and a sound healing and massage session to close.

Thanks to everyone who came along and shared their feedback, including:

🟢 “An incredibly grounding and relaxing experience. The first time in a while connecting with myself.”

🟢 “Absolutely fantastic, relaxing and beautiful event. Perfect treat for myself on Mother’s Day. Katie has taught me that slowing down is essential.”

And if you missed out yesterday, you’re welcome to join me for the Full Flower Moon event this Thursday (May 15). There are still a few spaces left — bookings via the website or just DM me.
