It seems where ever we go online for self development or even just to learn the newest findings on losing weight, we come across some kind of coach. Whether it be a Personal Trainer, an NLP coach or hypnotist, we are sure to come across a service or product that is more holistic than ever before. For example a personal trainer who knows how to help people lose weight through not only fitness, but also a nutrition background. Or an NLP coach who helps their clients personally grow with unresolved emotions that also happens to lead to natural weight loss and more healthy habits.
Over the years we have developed in science and medicinal practices that have helped cure us and treat us like never before. We have also developed in our holistic health approach or rather tapped back into our ancestral knowing of traditional health means.
So what is Holistic Health? It is actually an approach to life. Rather than focusing on illness or specific parts of the body, this ancient approach to health considers the whole being and how he or she interacts with his or her environment. Holistic health emphasises the connection of mind, body and spirit.
A Personal Health Coach (PHC), is a qualified and experienced practitioner, trainer or coach in their field of health expertise, who looks at the patient as a whole being (addressing physical, social, spiritual and intellectual health) while embracing the clients conventional treatment. The PHC’s aim is to help the client feel empowered to gain responsibility for their health and help clients along their journey to self discovery and happier health, rather than focusing only on the conventional approach, which can also be known as the bandaid approach. Examples of a PHC’s are: NLP, Life Coaches, PTs, Nutritionists/Dieticians and healers with healthy lifestyle approaches. They embrace in their practice the connection of a persons body, mind, spirit and emotions.
