In the warm up to Day 1 of our Leadership Development wkend I was grappling with couple things, so decided to put headphones in and take a walk to the TOP level of the Superdome for some quiet time & take it all in.
As I came off the top tier escalator i got stopped in my tracks by this quote!😵

Love seeing how competitive Archie and his entire team are every week!
Im still in 2 minds with this whole new world of not keeping scores so not to have winners / losers at this age (U9s)..
Surely there’s no shame in losing and the chance of winning brings that competitive edge out in kids to work harder to get better at their passion??
Surely by teaching the win or learn concept to kids these days, they’ll have more hunger in them to give it their all with all that they do & not get caught up with being “a loser” when do lose later on?

Are we setting them up for life in not having them ready to compete, win / lose / learn & work hard to get better in the real world at their passion??🤔🤔

Or is the enjoyment of just playing and giving it a go for the fun of it, no matter what the outcome, the way forward? 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m not sure of the right answer, but I’d hate for kids to grow up without a competitive edge or willingness to give something a crack or feel shame in losing, or worse, quit when do have some losses, just because they were protected from it by through the “system” ....

Thankfully a decent PT who’s committed to finding a way, kept working with me until WE found a leg workout that’s comfortable for me back!
