I’m excited to share in a few weeks I’ll be offering ‘Yin Yoga & the Body clock’ at Nambour Yoga Centre. Honestly, this is my favourite masterclass to teach! 😁

Saturday 11th October
10:30 - 1pm
@ Nambour Yoga Centre

More info ⬇️
"Do you wake up at the same time in the middle of the night?

Do you experience a midday slump in your energy levels?

When is the optimal time to eat, sleep, work and relax?

The Ancient Chinese have a sophisticated system of traditional medicine that supports health and vitality. Part of this system is the Chi Cycle that charts the flow of energy which rests in different organs at specific times of the day. This Chi Cycle circulates in a 24 hour period and represents the time of day when each organ is functioning optimally and has the most energy.

The Body Clock can be used as a guide to understand how to best nurture ourselves and match our daily activities to the most suitable energetic times to support the mind and body.

Join Christine McDaniel for this Yin Masterclass, as we explore Yin Yoga poses that stimulate the 12 meridians to enliven the Chi flow through the channels. We will begin with a 30 minute conversation about this ancient system followed up a 2 hour Yin Yoga sequence touring the landmarks of the Body Clock

Anything in nature follows the cycle of rising and falling. And right now at the beginning of Spring, we’re in the rising energy, after a slow thaw from the quiet dormant winter.
During this season of increase and movement towards growth, it can be an exciting time with a lot of energy! 🌱✨

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Spring corresponds to the Liver and Gallbladder and is the element of Wood, which is the expression of life at its strongest! Wood is the visionary, the planner. The part of you that has a dream you want to pursue. It gifts us direction, discipline and the drive to become who we are and who we’re supposed to be.

“It’s okay if you’re scared
when you’re opening.
The seed,
she was scared too.
Do you think the coal
wanted to become
a diamond?
Ha!
She was scared
out of her wits
of change!
It took her 10,000 years
to even be able
to pray for it.
And what about
our favourite cliché, that caterpillar?
You must have heard
his shrieks of resistance
as some bigger force
unwelcomely impelled it
to eat its own form
while disclosing nothing
of those secret wings.
The acorn
was so stodgy,
the far-right
of the plant kingdom
100% closed in by the hard walls
of his staunch beliefs.
My-oh-my did he resist
becoming the regal, generous oak.
The only thing different in us
from them
is we have an even more
stubborn resistance
but ultimately
we are impelled
by the same irresistible force
to completely self-destruct
into a New and Improved
Yet to be Discovered Marvel.
Do your best to allow this —
you too were made for wings.”

You might be surprised to know as much as I’m a Yin Yoga enthusiast; when I started practicing, I thought it was pretty mediocre and I didn’t really care for it.

It wasn’t until one day, a name was mentioned in class. Paul Grilley. My ears perked up. I remembered that name from the very beginning of my yoga journey back in 2006.

I was familiar with Paul Grilley’s work on skeletal variation and his contribution on how our unique skeletal structure affects our range of motion in the yoga practice. I watched several of his anatomy DVDs in college and was enthralled with his knowledge, enthusiasm and collection of human bone photos! 🦴💀✨

And really, this is why I got into Yin. All the Yin Yoga teacher trainings I’ve participated in have been based on Paul Grilley’s method and approach to the practice. The functional anatomy I learned went far beyond what any other training i had completed had to offer.

This foundation is why I offer students a few different variations of the same target area to explore what feels best!

The style of Yin Yoga isn’t copyrighted; anyone could teach it. But for me personally, the introduction to Yin Yoga wasn’t as much about the practice, as it was about the teacher. 😊

After the incredible feedback we received from our last event, Rufus and I are excited to collaborate once again to share with you a special Yin & Didge event celebrating the Spring Equinox 🌱✨

From the quiet slumber of winter, the natural world awakens to a new cycle. Spring is stirring, the light is returning and there’s a promise of new possibilities and opportunities for growth.

The Spring Equinox marks a time of transition and transformation — from the darkness of winter into the light of spring. It symbolises nature’s awakening and invites growth within ourselves. This celestial event, when day and night are of equal length, represents balance — and offers a reminder to find harmony between our inner and outer worlds.

Join us for a special evening to honour the spirit of Spring. You’ll be guided through a 75-minute Yin Yoga practice with Christine, followed by a 45-minute sacred Didgeridoo Sound Bath with Rufus Rogey of Earth Song Healing.

Everyone is welcome! ♥️

Saturday 20th September
5:30 - 7:30pm

The season of slowness and silence is upon us here in the Southern Hemisphere. And the winter sun feels like a warm comforting hug.

Based on ‘The Law of the 5 Elements’ and their corresponding seasons, winter is the ultimate Yin and a time of gestation. A time to get quiet and go inwards. This is when all the energy goes into the roots of the plant. We tend to forget so much growth happens in the roots - underground, in the dark, growth where we can’t see.

Ive leaned into the symbolism of the season, as this year I’ve quietly drawn back into myself to rest and heal. As many of you know, I’ve been navigating through sudden sensorineural hearing loss shortly after an emergency cesarean. I felt completely fragmented and had lost touch with my body and intuition.

But even in the darkest of times, a light will carry us through. The faith to trust in a larger wisdom and the warmth of people we love and things we care about. I took a courageous step back into teaching after a lot of doubt and uncertainty. I’ve been incredibly grateful for the support from community that has carried me through this intense time.

I’m reminded that the wetter, the darker, the colder winter, means the upward sprout and vitality of spring will be strong.
So right now I’m sowing seeds of aspiration and curious to see what will emerge from this fertile ground. ✨🌱✨

Hi Everyone!

I’m looking forward to offering a special Acu Yin class at Nambour Yoga Centre!

Saturday 30th August
10:30 - 12:30pm

There’s an early bird discount for those who sign up before the 31st July 😉

➡️ Booking is Essential: https://events.humanitix.com/acu-yin

“Acu Yin is a unique practice that skilfully combines the potency of Acupressure with Yin Yoga.

Acupoints of the body are concentrated points of high energy (Qi) flow on specific pathways called meridians. Applying pressure to these points can have a profound affect on our physical health, emotional state and spiritual wellbeing.

During this 2 hour masterclass with Christine, learn how to locate common Acupoints while holding passive Yin Yoga poses. We will focus on targeting specific areas of the body corresponding with the sinew channels; which are the connective tissue pathways that mirror the 12 primary meridians. The blend of these two modalities provides an effective release of held tension, enhanced energy flow and deep relaxation.”

A handout will be included for you to take home and continue to use these methods.

Everyone is welcome ♥️
